regrouping multiple stack in battle before attacking vs attacking with stacks spread out.

in the case of a large battle with multiple stacks of units involved in both parties:

the AI don't really regroup their forces and attack with each stack the nearest target.
i noticed that regrouping all your forve on the battlefield before attacking offer a strgoner attack focus which will deal more casualties.
it makes all our unit able to focus a few enemy unit while the AI spread troops lose time catching up the blob to launch an attack.
i was wondering if he AI should try to merge its forces before any hostile action (unless enemy is at range) so it get a better chance of fending off a player blob.
but that may be a bit too complicated to dev.
