Hey :)

Today I am going to introduce to you how Purge of the Army decision works and why someone would ever take such decision!

First and foremost, in order to take the decision of purging the generals of your army, you must be a dictatorship!
There are however other decisions that are only available for democracies. :)

Then the process is fairly simple, taking this decision will raise the morale of your army as they will feel that you are dismissing incompetent leaders to ensure their safety and their success in battle.
This decision will nonetheless create dissent among the population.

The decision will in turn trigger an event whereby a few generals of your army are being dismissed and retire from service. You will no longer be able to have them serving your country.
However, in order to bring a little uncertainty to such decisions and make players think twice before taking it, we have added a random factor that will determine how many generals are going to be dismissed. Thus you cannot predict how large the purge will be, as although the initial decision of purging the army relies on you, it can then go out of control while bureaucrats from your administration as well as local barons can use it as an opportunity to revenge against former foes.

And that is all for today. I hope you are enjoying your week end and see you tomorrow for a new development diary. :)

Cheers

So the soviet purge event will be based on the same mechanism? If so, I'd like to point out that soviet purges weren't random...

Soviet Purge is a separate event.
This isn't random either, this picks a random amount of disloyal officers.

Ok, but WHY should I get rid of disloyal leaders? "Disloyal" doesn't mean incompetent. He is disloyal to the government, but he can be liked or at least respected by the soldiers. If the only effect is the gain of 3% MOR and 2 dissent and loss of several leaders, then it may be a little pointless.

Thank You :)

Issues don't have to be "sense" and they "may be a little pointless" but they are still needed.

Issues make palyer feel that he is doing something, than just count numbers. Good history game need a lot history actions. Real or plausable, no matter. And this game is fully bind to history.

Another question. What is the ai trigger for such decisions? I mean will ai just execute generic decisions when conditions are met? Even if ai doesn't really need devaluation or it's a small country that doesn't have that much generals to waste?
