I just bought DV from GamersGate and installed it over my CK 1.05 version (also bought recently from GamersGate, it came as 1.05, no patches applied).

CK base game runs just fine on my machine, have played it for some time.

When I start the game, I see the new DV interface can select a scenario, but when I press start, I see briefly the loading screen, and then a crash to desktop.

I uninstalled DV and then CK, removed all remaining files, and re-installed CK and DV, but result is the same.

Windows XP professional version 2002 SP3, 2GB ram, ASUS EAH5550 graphics adapter, DirectX 9.0c.

Try these things

- Rename your AVI-folder (in the main crusader kings folder) to something else (like AVIback f.e.)

- Go into the settings.txt file and make sure the resolution there matches what your video card/monitor can support. When in doubt set it to 1024 X 768 refresh 60.

- Set colourdepth to 16 bit

Thanks.

Setting the resolution to my desktop resolution of 1920 x 1080 gives weird startup and scenario selection screens (it only fills the upper left part), but the game itself runs well in this resolution, so it solved my problem.
