I play BT on OSX, which means I can't use ModTek, but I can use the built-in HBS Mod Loader.
I'm working through my Mod and there are a few values I would like to change inside a few of the .json files.

For example, in CombatGameConstants.json I would like to change these three values:

"Visibility": {
"BaseSpotterDistance": 400.0,
"BaseSensorDistance": 550.0
}

"ToHit": {
"ToHitCoverObstructed": 4
}

Can I do this using the HBS Mod Loader? And if so, how?

I wouldn't use the mod loader at all for that.

Just make a copy of the original (in case of accidents, etc) and use Notepad++ to edit the original.

You could probably use the modloader. As for modtek, I'm not sure where the rumor that it can't be used on mac comes from. It definitely can be used as both RT and BTA have mac users and they can only use modtek
