I'm not able to see boarders, city sprawl, or units. I've had this issue since I got the game and no matter how many times I change the settings, I can't see them. I've searched through the files and found all associated mesh and dds files for them but for some reason their still not loading. Any ideas.
 
Are you on Mac, PC or Linux?

If on PC: Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/EU4/settings.txt. From your Documents/EU4/logs/ directory post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

OK, that looks fine. Did you try the driver update?

And, does your system have a dual video setup, so aside from that Intel is there an nVidia or AMD high performance card too? If so check for driver updates for that too.
 
I've updated both video drivers to the most current and even the one dell recommends for my computer and still get the same results. eu4 does recognize the nividia card because I saw It in the setup.txt doc. So I have no idea.
 
Hmmm. Can I see your setup.log please? Your nVidia driver should probably be http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/71704/en-us

Then you have to make sure the game is running on the nVidia card, not the Intel.

If none of that helps Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local files" in Steam
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/EU4 AND Documents/EU4
- re-install game in Steam, run a verify when done.
 
The whole setup.log wont fit in a post. But I've tried multiple times to reinstall the game. I've even reinstalled steam still nothing changed. I still can't see borders, units or ships.

Did your reinstalls include manually deleting leftover files and directories before installing again? EU4 has files in two places, under Steam and under Documents.

Were you able to determine which video card the game is running on? You can just right-click on eu4.exe , hover on "Run with Graphics Processor" until the next menu appears, and choose the nVidia. You could try this with Steam not even running.

Yea I deleted both files every time. I think for some reason the textures for the borders, units are not loading. Is there a way to add a .txt file or tweak the settings.txt file to make them load
 
No there isn't, sorry, nor has there ever been a need to - if any graphical feature can load, it does. As it already says =yes for those things in your settings.txt the issue is elsewhere. If the files were bad the clean reinstall would have fixed it. It begins to look like a hardware fault in your video card.

That system.log file does show the game is seeing the nVidia, which is encouraging, but can you confirm with the nVidia utilities that it really is running on it? If so, may as well try setting it to the Intel card - you never know, it might help in this case for whatever reason.

Do you have access to another machine to try the game on?
