This is a continuation of this thread from the old forum: http://aow.triumph.net/forums/topic/making-currently-rarely-used-units-more-useful

This idea still needs refinement:
e.1/ give Infantry T1 Volunteer or a specific ability (like Night Watch’s Urban Concealment) to fill a specific role and be useful in complement to the basic Irregular
But needs further refinement.

We had the following suggestions:
Some ideas from SeeR:
High Elf Swordsman gets Forest Concealment
Human Longswordsman gets Fast Embark
Draconian Crusher already boosted by RG
Orc Greatsword already has War Cry
Frostling Raider (32 MP), Dwarf Axeman (Defensive Strike), Tigran Prowler (T2), Goblin Marauder (Cave Concealment, Volunteer) already OK

xlnt proposed:
some tank skill – like lesser guard? (15% dmg reduction + gets hurt at 50% of the dmg done to the target, something in those lines)

Rodmar suggested (details):
Lesser Evolution for T1 units.
City buffs for T1 defenders.

The first idea of Rodmar is never going to happen as we don't want more Evolve, as it's very bad for balance.

What's your opinions on the already proposed ideas? We need to filter the best ones.

I think all of the proposed changes are minor enough so as not to overly increase the strengths of T1s. I would suggest additional 2hp and 1def for all T1 units.

Here is a radical one: the Great Temple gives T1 infantry and pikemen the Mighty Meek ability. That's probably too powerful but it would:

- Make a useless building strong
- give you an alternative way to build up your army
- make those units useful again.

Maybe it could work along with a nerf to Mighty Meek to make it only apply to the primary damage channel because it's already a really powerful spell.
