I usually play on at least a x2 Tech/Tradition cost and things just take longer... I really would want an Industrial designation that simply give the mineral reduction for both Alloy/CG workers and make industrial districts cheaper to build.

Right now I have to switch between the two specialisation just to get the mineral deductions which I just unnecessary micro management of these early colonies. As there is no cost for switching between the two there also is no loss for doing so. In the early game you might not have the planets to specialise them in one or the other.

This would just be a quality of life type of thing...

I've had similar thoughts while playing (regarding the need for a unified designation), but its not something we got in. We'll probably take a look at it for the next larger update (probably after summer).

I hate to be that guy, but I said in the initial DD and I will say it here again: It was a big mistake that eladrin had himself convinced by some people on this forum that we need this complicated mess with different designations for alloys vs consumer goods on a per planet basis. A unified industrial designation and a slider for the empire wide policy of civilized vs militarized economy would have been the better option, just as eladrin had initially planned.

This would be amazing.

I think that would be great...

I also submit an alternative little mod that will add just this in the meantime. ;)

Yes... this would add more of an actual choice as you would need to keep the police for at least 10 years and there is a choice (cost) of specialise in one over the other overall.

I'm enjoying shifting the jobs via planet designations, but changing designation needs a 10 year cooldown like changing policies. Even before the improved designations, optimal play required changing designation every time you built a building or district that was built faster with a certain designation.

I'm not understanding your problem. The designations allow you to have 100% of your workers working in alloys, or 100% of your workers working in CGs. Why do you need a CG discounts when you have all of your workers on alloy, none of them on CGs?

Agree with this. I'd rather we simply remove the designations that promote this sort of fiddling around. This includes discounts on starting construction and construction rate bonuses. Surely now that designations are allowed to create or move jobs we can find a more interesting alternative that isn't micro heavy.
