I created a forestry specialization zone near the edge of my square since the resource extended into a square I did not purchase. I was later able to purchase the adjacent square which extended the forest resource. Now I want to expand the existing zone into the new square but I cannot find how to do that. Everything I try creates a new zone rather than reshaping/expanding the existing zone. Can someone tell me what I am missing? TIA.

you have to place the brush entirely within the existing zone and use it to push the edges outwards

Admittedly I had confusion over this at first too. Remember now there are 2 types of district zones. The original kind and now the industrial kind. Make sure you use the industrial 'paint-brush' for districts and 'paint' from inside the existing one outwards.
