I don't think Dumble overreacted.
Perhaps. I'm confident, however, that a seperate thread, or simply PMs/email, might have been more appropriate channel to vent his frustrations.
In any case, to restore the thread to something resembling it's original function, the following links may be of interest:

Hmm... let me follow this logic for a minute. In order to reduce the amount of Spam you force placers to make a minimum amount of post before they can post in other forums.
I dunno, Dumble. I guess the acid test of this policy is whether or not posting quotas do, in fact, leading to more spamming on the boards overall. One might presume Paradox would not maintain this policy if it were utterly ineffective in it's stated goal. You might argue it deters a few users.

Personally, I don't mind as I'm only really interested in the Majesty section of the forums anyway.

But it does seem a bit weird that they don't let you get an avatar or a signature before a certain number of posts. . .

You need to be a member for a x-period (14 days I believe) before you can do that, not post a specific number

This forum has more then 80k members, a lot of them are just 'empty' accounts (they make no post or only visit the forum a few times) if all those people were automatically allowed to have a signature and avatar, that would be a waste of space.

Honestly, for me, the only frustration was that I never was able to find out exactly what condition need to be met to pass my probation. It wasn't just a matter of waiting 14 days because my account was far older than that. Every time someone suggested it was something, and I met or exceeded that condition, yet still couldn't read my own profile, post in the OT and all the other things new accounts can't do, it was frustrated. All I could think of is if someone would just tell me what conditions need to be met I'd be happy.

To further illustrate my point:
In the United States you can't vote before you reach the age of 18.
Imagine the frustration young people would feel if that information wasn't disclosed to the public.
So, for example, a 16 year old shows up to vote but is turned away without explanation. People outside the polling station offer the perspective voter all kinds of theories about why he couldn't vote. One person claim he's not tall enough you need to be an inch taller, Because that the height the person was the first time he or she was able vote. Another person claims it's because he still too young and should try again at 17.
So next year he tries to vote again, and still can't, and again he is offered speculation as to why this is. One persons suggests he just accept his condition and stop trying to vote because it's really not important enough to worry about.
Can you imaging how frustrating that would seem to the 17 year old? If someone just told him at 16 he was too young and he need to wait until 18 he wouldn't have had any false expectations.

I can't see any reason that the forum rules shouldn't at least mention the restrictions and what conditions need to be satisfied to lift them.

Is this suggestion so unreasonable?
