When I start the game from Steam the Game blinks and then it's gone.
Steam seems to think the game is still running.
But there is no game ..

Has the game ever run on this machine? Or never yet?

Please attach here the latest log from the game :

I am not sure that Surviving Mars ever worked on this machine, this operating system, but EU IV and Stellaris is working fine "on this machine". So something must trip up and "confuse" this particular game.

There were 2 log-files.
I was unable to attach them in a normal way as the nautilus windows used for attachments, did not show me hidden and system-files.

I found them and copied them manually - hope this is what you need.
I feel like I tried the game before 27. june 2020, but maybe that was before my upgrade to Ubuntu 20.

I must confess when I look at the log-files I cannot see the error.
I hope I have provided you with information you can use and that you will be able to point me in the right direction.
If the log-files from EU IV or Stellaris can be of assistance I will provide them.

Well, Surviving Mars is nothing like those PDS games - different studio and different game engine.

There's a slightly newer video driver, may as well try that:

If no good, what happens if you manually run the game's executable from a terminal command line, any useful output there?

When I start the game from Steam the Game blinks and then it's gone.
Steam seems to think the game is still running.
But there is no game ..

Steam
Ubuntu 20.1
Intel, Nvidia 980
Dual 1920*1080 screen

I might be experiencing the same bug, or a related one. Im on Manjaro, an Arch derivative (Linux). Nvidia 960, AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, triple 1920*1080 screens.
I did successfully run Surviving Mars previously on this machine, this OS, some months ago. Now, when I try to start it, the screens go black, a few seconds pass, then the desktop displays normally again. No new window is open, and I can hear the game sound.

Ksysguard (KDE equivalent of Task Manager) shows a process called Render is active, and if I kill it, the game sound stops, steam registers the game has stopped, and so on. Its like the game is starting, but isnt finding the display to output to.
