I lamented this in another thread:
Alas. I wish there was a remedy to the spiral of threads that bring up the same subject over and over again while previous proposals are buried only to be possibly rehashed again. :(

Perhaps it is impossible to do in a forum. Perhaps it is healthy for creativity? However, I just see topics continually being repeated with people struggling to think up ideas that were already thought, while great proposals are buried, and we can only hope that they are rehashed or at least remembered. :(

I am unsure of how we should approach this. Merge all threads of the same topic? Keep them centralized? However, ideas would still be buried under all the thread pages...
Create a categorized idea thread/document? However, who decides what gets in? under what critera should it be pruned so that it is concise and manageable for reading and organizing?
Is this even worth doing at all? I just feel that the energy used on this repeat cycle of ideas and threads could be put into something more linear.

The trick is to wait until the initial excitement runs its course. Then there'll be fewer threads rehashing the same material over and over.

If you check the link in the bottom of my sig you'll find a link to EU2 idea threads grouped in major subjects. After a while I stopped as noone suggested threads. But if it maintained by a few volunteers, somethink like that may be usefull for EU3.

Nice idea, but you still have to slog through the threads.
I envision a sort of encyclopedia. There is a "pirate" page for example. Nice summed up essay forms of a pirate modeling idea will be displayed.

Problem is this pirate page would possibly contain several pirate modelling ideas. Perhaps you could enhance your encyclopedia approach by making a categorized list, where the category "Pirates" would have a list of links to pirate ideas pages. Each pirate idea page would then indeed contain a summed up essay of the idea and a link to the thread where it was discussed.

Yes. That would be excellent! :) Now, where do I go about setting up such an "encyclopedia". Need to start while this forum is still young, and I can still manage to go through all the threads...

You could consider using Wiki-software this allows you to make Wikis like VickyWiki.

This Wiki needs to run on a server though, you might wanna ask the makers of the other Paradox Wikis how they solved that.

Something needs to be done about this because some good threads are slowly falling back off of the firstpage and alot of people only look at the first page.

These are some threads that i feel have good ideas and good discussion but have slowly been slipping into the forum abyss.
