The Imperial campaign in Hammerfell was later named "The pacification of the Redguards", while it was true that they have not rebelled since those days, their spirit of independence has not died.
Chapter XI: Desert wars
Troughout the reign of Tamriels second Valomar emperor different kinds of heresies were spreading in the lands,
most dangerous where those who refused to accept the Ninth Divine Talos,
these heretics were centered in Cyrodiil, and Mathies founded the Imperial Inquisition to combat these misguided souls.
(Nobody ever expects them.)
These heretics would do everything to see the holy dynasty of the Valomars destroyed, thankfully the efficient Imperial authorities always foil every attempt.
Despite the agitating rebels in the countryside the Empire was growing prosperous, it was partially paid by the blood that flooded the constantly expanding Imperial borderslands.
The merchants of Nibenay tried to benefit from the prosperous Empire, they seeked to dominate the trade in the Imperial City, this was to be remedied by war.
The power of the merchants was far too great, only a monarch should hold such power, not any "council".
Imperial Legions pursued the Nibenean army into the occupied Elsweyr, wich was in brink of a rebellion.
The battle of Darkhor proved to be the catalyst that the Khajit needed to start the fight for their freedom.
Nibenean army was totally destroyed.
Khajits, led by a charismatic leader named M`dirr M`barim-dar declared independence from Nibenay,
at this point there was very little the Nibenayans could do about it.
Shortly after these events, the war ended,
Nibenay was forced to relinquish their claim on Elsweyr, furthermore their merchants were expulsed from the Imperial city and the Niben bay.
Back at the Imperial City, Mathies met with the Redguard nobility and they agreed to declare Hammerfell united once more, however this was only true in paper.
Some areas in southern Hammerfell continued to resist the Empire, totally unacceptable.
This was the beginning of the "Desert wars", wich lasted for over twelve years, one of the longest conflicts in the history of the Valomar empire.
Meanwhile in Elsweyr, Emperor Mathies had a friend amongst the cats,
Ra`Mhirr Dro`shassa was working to get his people on the side of the Empire, he had already aquired the first territory in his homeland for the Emprie.
Empress Annia followed her husbands army, and one day on the field, it was announced that she was pregnant!
Perhaps fueled by the birth his future heir, the Emperor kept winning battle after battle, war after war.
Birth of an imperial child gave hope for every faithful of the empire.
She was to be the shining beacon of light, and the first reigning Empress since the days of Saint Alessia.
The pacification of Hammerfell finally ended after ten years of war, however a new rebellion rose in the border between Hammerfel and High Rock.
These rebels were mainly minor lords in the Empire, and they had no large armies, despite this the war lasted for two years.
Divines blessed the Imperial couple with another daughter during the rebellion, she was three years younger than the crown princess.
Rebellion was foiled, and the Empire was ready for new challenges,
there is still a lot to do before this human empire can claim entire Tamriel.
