How to turn the sound off? I can turn master_volume to -1 for eu3 and I see in the system.log it stops loading sound but in HoI3 when you change master to -1 sound still loads? Anyone know how to stop it loading.

Cheers

Beansontoast.... I've looked at your dxdiag... and I may be totally wrong.. but...

I think it's your display properties...

1920 x whatever..

Can you set your display to 1280 x 768... or somesuch and see if it loads?

I'm comparing your dxdiag to mine. I'm running Win7 (64). You are running Win7 (32).

I notice I'm running Microsoft sound drivers, and you are using something else.

Can you please try using the Windows 7 default sound drivers?

Ta

Ok so I installed the K-Lite mega codec pack both 64 bit and 32bit. Novapaddy my OS is win7 64 not 32. I also tried deleting my soundcard drivers and rebooting to let windows install its own drivers and still absolutely nothing, still same crash. Ive tried typing the line it crashes on from system.log into google but nothing relevant comes up.

Seriously thanks for the help, Ive tried everything thats been suggested so far.

OK I understand...

Remember that Win7 doesn't install games the same way as say, XP does.

It has a Games Folder kinda setup.. maybe this is related to your problem??
Bull. The Games folder is just a display mode geared towards games. It has nothing to do with the folders that are actually on the harddrive.

I highlighted two lines. Windows 7 64 bit requires WHQL certified drivers, and your sound drivers apparently don't have the WHQL logo information required. Has Windows 7 been installed by you, or was it shipped with Win7?

(Also: Display resolution and the resolution the game uses are unrelated to each other, as long as the game's resolution is <= display's resolution.)
