Ok That was Easy now What‽

At this point the best service that could be offered to the peasantry was to join the army. They were led not by nobles but by those of their own rank and file. Cavalry on the battlefield was not manned by nobles like in Poland and France but instead highly esteemed infantrymen. These ideas would lay the base for more reforms throughout the nation.

Ivan had effectively revoked Novgorod's independence. His armies converged on the city and within days all that was left of the city's militia was captured and executed.

Foolish Mongol nations had decided to attack Muscovy on the assumption that more resources would be spent attacking Novgorod. They were quickly destroyed and pushed back to their capitals by vengeful Muscovite armies.

These invasions also led to multiple revolts in the Muslim portions of Muscovy. They saw that Muslim armies had invaded Muscovite soil and under the lies of fanatical leaders one of the biggest revolts in Muscovite history was started. It took one army two months to quell the revolt.

Within months Muscovite troops entered Novgorod. It was now a city without walls. The vast defenses that protected its enigma of independence were torn down by an army heralding freedom and unification. Merchants had fled the city weeks before, leaving its defenders to stop the invasion by themselves with little to no funds. Ivan took a personal visit to the city three days after its liberation. He was greeted with fanfare, some of it real and some imagined.

Now that all Russians were unified under one single monarchy under god it was about time to bring god to man. To the east lay another successor to the Golden Horde. This Siberian Khanate was the only thing stopping further expansion to the promised land. Now it was time to crush these heathens under the foot of all Russians.

A quick detachment was sent to assault the Siberians. However they were quickly repelled and an exhausted population in Moscow was unsupportive of the endeavor, Muscovy had some problems to deal with...

However, this was not the last the the Khanates would hear of Muscovy...

" Prince Ivan... we are finally back to where we were months ago. I still can't believe that it was gone... all gone."

When one does not wait

"Life is cruel, so very very cruel" sighed Ivan. "I have given to the Russian people what they have dreamt of for so long, but at what cost?"

The great Moscow fire of 1547 sent shock waves across Europe. What had begun as a simple serf demonstration quickly spiraled out of control. A mass of conscripts numbering around 1,500 had gathered outside the governors palace on that fateful day. A group of guardsmen armed with pikes stood separating them from the building. It started with screams of "Мы хотим хлеб!" (We want bread!" and "Мы хотим работать!" (We want to work). The guards stood firm without moving as much of an inch as the crowed grew even more raucous. Eventually the mayor came out to quite down the crowd. He warned that if they did not stop demonstrating and disperse force would be used to round them up and impress all of them into service immediately. The crowd then left and the majority of them went to their homes. Later that night a group of serfs met in a small shed on the outskirts of the city. Their owner had been a good friend of the mayor and saw to it that all of the offenders who lived on his property were properly "dealt" with. These serfs had withstood a harrowing beating and were still aching from the wounds. They hatched a plan to get revenge on the mayor and the elite of Moscow. It wasn't as if they had no knowledge of what the war was about. They knew that each Prince was hell bent on uniting Russia. These senile individuals had been killing good men, husbands, sons, fathers, for years pursuing this goal. For over 100 years Muscovy had endured Mongol raids, invasions, and starvation to achieve an unachieveable goal. "Even if this "Ivan" an impostor with Georgian blood happens to unite "Russia" then who says we live long enough to see it?" said Maksym, the leader of the group. "We should demand our rights now! and there is no way for us to do it without destruction." Maksym drew heavy applause from his audience of ten. "We will march through the fields and gather the poor and weak from across Moscow and beyond and destroy the edifices that hold us back!" And so began the march that would end in tragedy.

The small band of serfs paraded into their master's home with pitchforks and knives. The went into the rooms of the sleeping family and in unison stabbed them repeatedly. The lord, his wife, and their five children were killed unknowing of what befell them. Some say that they had the most peaceful death of that night. The band of rebels then confiscated the weapons of the household, three matchlock in all and then went on march. Within twenty minutes they had reached an even larger farm. They went into the living quarters of the serfs and proposed a wholesale revolt. Of the fifty male serfs on the farm only thirty-four agreed. These mob then tied up the families of the defiant serfs along with the males and burned down the living quarters, burning families alive. The rebels then stole an entire cache of weapons and then stormed the house killing all they found inside. The male landowners put up a good fight and killed three serfs before both father and son were bayoneted. For the next four hours this mob grew and eventually numbered in the hundreds. At the crack of dawn they moved into the city. They congregated in the merchant district and stole the guns held by Moscow's merchant elite. Now the killing started. After taking the weapons and ammo the five hundred serfs now had three hundred pikes seventy guns and two cannons. They set fire to the merchant houses and stabbed all who came in their way. Within an hour they moved out of the merchant district, leaving the sleeping merchants to their fiery deaths. Upon seeing the flames the royal guard leaped into action. They armed themselves and sent one company out to put out the fires and another to take out the rebels. Upon meeting each other the armies clashed. In a hail of gunfire and pikes many died upon the opening of hostilities. The guard were not only armed with matchlocks, but some had wheellocks as well. The serfs were butchered and fled the battle. The guards attempted to follow them but were slowed down by their armor. The serfs had given up all hope of victory and simply retreated with their cannons and guns, leaving the pikemen to impale and stall the guard troops. The rebels split in two, one group with some guns and the two cannons and another with guns and torches. The first group cut straight for the imperial palace. The second started to torch the homes of nobles while looting, raping, and pillaging. The cannons opened fire on the Prince's castle destroying entire rooms with each hit. While all the cannoners prided themselves with killing the Prince they could not be father from the truth. Prince Ivan was in Novgorod, the cannoners were killing servants and the Prince's personal serfs. The entire city was in flames by the time the last of the rebels in the second group were cornered by the guard troops. The rebels garrisoned themselves in a nobles house and started to fire on the guard troops. The guards were pinned down as none of them could advance from cover without risking getting shot. Matters grew worse when the cannons had come back from finishing their siege of the palace. The opened fire on the guards and forced a general retreat. The rebels, now numbering around seventy, then hit the chase. They cornered one of the guard groups and opened fire killing nearly all of the 120 men. Upon hearing of the mobilization of reserves and citizen troops the rebels abandoned their cannons and fled into the forest. No effort was made to find them as Moscow was in flames. Along with over 5,000 Muscovites Maksym had been killed in the firefight. The guard troops that were left attempted to contain the fire but their attempts proved fruitless. They had no choice but to start a counter fire. By 8 the next day the fire was over and Moscow's worst disaster finished. When Ivan was given the news he doubled over in grief. It was the darkest day for Muscovy and he was powerless to stop it. In his grief Ivan decided that the liberation of Novgorod was time to make a very important statement. The sole aim of the Tsardom was to advance on Crimea and Siberia. Russia had been united and empire was the only goal!

Sorry for this my stupid post...
Для мати Россия: Бедствие от востока - it is totally wrong phrase.
За мать-Россию: Бедствие с Востока is correct;)
Or За Русь-Матушку : Бедствие с Востока is also good variant :)
