Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
I opened up Crusader Kings III to play it and the only option to pick was "new game". I had plenty of previous saves.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
The only thing that I can think of is that I opened the game from the shortcut on my desktop as opposed to opening on steam.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
Play the game? I don't know.

you can find your save files under C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games
maybe you changed something in your OS that would pick a different folder for saving, just a guess

Before I posted this I checked there and there was nothing in that folder. That's why I posted here, because it is very odd that none of the saves or autosaves were there.

I don't think I can play this game if it isn't going to save.

if you have windows try a search with: *.ck3
this will look for all files with that file extension on your hard drives

Try disabling ransomware in security settings worked for me.

I already have this disabled. Also, I started a new game and now that save is missing as well. There are no search queries that show the save games with the .ck3 extension.

If it helps, I have the game installed on my D: drive and the save games store to the C:/users. I don't see why this would be an issue though.

I had the same problem today, some of my saves weren't showing up. I checked the steam folder (.../remote/...), tabbed in and out of the game and they miraculously reappeared.

Maybe I verified integrity of game files in between, but not sure.

Thank you for the report!

The only idea of what's going on which comes to my mind is cloud saving. Maybe you were saving your games into cloud and now trying to load them without internet connection or with cloud saving disabled on Steam? Try this:

To access and load all Steam CK3 cloud saves made or synchronized on given device you need to:
1. Locate and open folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[steam_id]\1158310\remote\save games" - if the Steam was installed in the default location.
2. Copy the save file you want into "C:\Users\[user_id]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games".
You are now able to load that save in the game as a local save.
