Choppy Frame Rate (lag)

I have a Amd 2.1ghz quad core, 4mb Ram, and 4870HD running on windows 7 64bit. My game is Crusader Kings DV 2.1beta on high game speed the game runs with a lot of lag, annoying amount of lag. I tried to Google search nothing came up so here is my last resort. I have no clue as to what is causing this lag at higher game speeds or how to solve it.

Probably just all the calculations. When you say "high" speed, do you mean that you're cranking it all the way up?

This is an older game so it'll only use one processor core. So you're still limited to the speed of one of your cores. Most of these EU games can get a bit choppy when you crank the speed up all the way due to all the calculations being performed so much more often.

Yeah I have 0 problems when I increase the game speed in EU3 and Viky2.
