I tried to install a Paradox Launcher update but every time I try to install the update I am given this message "A launcher update has failed. The action failed because we could not fetch metadata about this resource. This means our servers are having hiccups or your internet connection is not stable enough." Can anyone help me ?

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

I have tried to do most of this and it still doesn't work I tried running it as a windows admin user and it did work momentarily but it still crashes randomly.
I went ahead and deleted every file I had and it still shows the error issue when I boot it up. I am completely unsure what to do at this point

I have the same issue, I can't seem to fix it, even reinstalling and Uninstaller doesn't work, I allowed even through firewall. Nothing worked.
Were you unable to find the log files I requested?

i have this issue too after having to reinstall the launcher due to an "Exit Status 1603" that prevents the launcher from being launched. worse, the "Exit Status 1603" error appeared again today so i have to reinstall the launcher...which still says OP's "unable to update" error message.

support ticket suggested VPN-ing to the US but that didn't work.

We don't know if you have the same cause as the OP as they never provided logs. In future please make a new thread. Thanks.

1603/1605 errors are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec OR Paradox Launcher running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? You can use this MS tool to clear the stuck install/uninstall:

THEN Please try this:

uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

exit the Steam app entirely
run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

As you also have the 1605 errors, please go through the steps in my post immediately above yours, thanks.

I have some issues here. After resetting the PC to a new one. I still have an issue with launcher CK3.

Yours Is an unrelated problem. In future please make your own new thread, thanks.

2023-07-21 15:08:33 [repository] [WARNING] Error in response (repository.json.asc): Get ".asc": signing TTL received is too close to current time (threshold of 60 sec)

This error means your computer is not on good internet time, which confuses our servers. Go into the Date&Time control panel and make sure Set Time Automatically is ON. Then hit the Sync Now button.

Then run the game again, the launcher will probably update itself now.

All the best!
