Yes, I'm really racking up the points as an aspiring tyrant :)

I think that the current 1 BB per province for annexing Austria is quite generous, as Prussia/Germany has no core provinces in Austria except for 3, and conquering the provinces by war would cost 2 BB/province. So it is a lot, but at the same time, it's half of the BB that would be acquired by incorporating the entire Austrian territory any other way.

DarkRenown's suggestion of 15-20 BB points for annexing Austria, minus Italian, Hungarian, etc. holdings, also seems quite generous and perhaps slightly more balanced than ALL of Austria joining Germany. It's only 1850 and I already have a huge number of provinces.

"Only" 18 BB is gained when Austria joins you with this event, I might fiddle with that more.

The one bug I can't work out of the event is that pozega (between ottomans and croatia) isn't going to croatia, instead germany keeps it. I'm going to add some extra events to my mod for dealing with Italy, so I'll do something with pozega while I'm at it. In the meantime this event can be used alone.
 
Thanks a lot, but I finally got it to work by creating a new txt file and copying from the prussia one and THEN your changes. God knows why that makes a diff. Also my comp has 256 ram...I dunno why there was a problem

Stanislaw, files emailed now. Sorry it took a while, but it was hard to find unmodded (with my other mod, not without these new events) versions of the files.

Darkrenown, first of all many thanks for your great work on the PU event.

I believe your latest event lowering BB score is more balanced, not only for those nasty BB wars but also from an historical standpoint when it comes to province assignment.

In my last campaign using your previous event as Prussia I finally managed to unify the huge Germany (by annexing those German minors still having Monarchy as government type), but I got 100+ BB points, which led both Russia and France to DOW me.
Needless to say it was a nightmare to survive those wars while also trying to manage internal revolts; in the end I had to quit and edit my savegame file to cut BBs at 50% in order to keep those powers from making a German sandwich :cool:

I'm going to give a try to your new event but I have a couple of questions:
1. For the event to fire is it mandatory for Hungary to exist as in the previous event version?
2. Is the event compatible with 1.03b?

1. Yes and no, Germany can be united with the PU, but Austria will not join unless Hungary exists. For my updated mod I'm thinking of removing Austria's gov type from the PU event to unite germany and adding it to the event that makes Austria join it, which I think makes more sense.

Wow, I find it hard to believe nobody ever seriously tried Popular Unification. I was going to do it in my next Prussia game.

In regards to satelliting the nonGerman Austrian provinces, what about creating a separate option for the player? The player can choose either to "let their people go" and be a low-BB supersized German or "Deutschland uber Alles", hang on to all of Austria, and fight a very early WWI. Not that there's anything wrong with autosatelliting - I would think that's what the German liberals would have done.

I second this! Something similar to the Russian events which liberate the OE Balkan minors when Russia conquers them.

Basically, the "main" PU event where PRU/GER gets all Austrian territory, then subsequent events that give the German player the option to release Hungary, Croatia, etc.
And within each of these subsequent events, perhaps additional BB reduction (in addition to BB reduction due to release) - not much, maybe 1-5 or 1-10 - some prestige (+10/+20/+50?), and relation +/- with other countries?
For example, release of the Italian provinces increases relations with France, Sardiana-P, Papal, Two Sicilies. Release of Balkan minors (and Hungary) increases relations with Russia, decreases relations with OE (?).
Just some ideas! ;)

BTW - Thanks Darkrenown for the event mod! I'm gonna try it tonight! :cool:
