Hi all,

I am playing a game of Kaiserreich with the Empire of Japan, with the long-term vision of invading the west coast of the US to do battle with the Pacific States of America. (Kaiserreich content not really relevant to this question, really just a topic of naval mechanics!)

Here's the issue: with naval invasions planned for the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, I just couldn't get naval supremacy to launch the invasions. I have ~225 ships based out of Hawaii, Midway, and the Johnson Atoll, all focused on the Western Seaboard and Northwest Coast regions. Screenshots attached.

I have my fleets set up in (what I think is) a fairly standard/good set-up: a strike force with capitals and 4x screens, and then patrol forces of light cruisers + destroyers

Would love some advice as to why this isn't working! A few targeted questions below:

1. Originally, my ships didn't even have enough range to reach these areas. I got around this by asking for docking rights from the American Union State (the other remaining belligerent in the civil war), but how else could I have done this? I know some ships have much more limited range than others, but not being able to get naval supremacy even though I own Hawaii is annoying

2. I have all my task forces fleets focused on 2 areas, the western seaboard and the northwest coast. 225 ships. And yet why does the Northwest Coast show "0/6" in Naval Invasion Support? When I check the location of 1 of my 2 fleets, the majority of it is sitting in the Marcus Islands (nowhere NEAR the west coast). The naval tab shows I have 66 ships operating in the western seaboard, and 0 operating in the northwest coast. Why?

3. Why aren't my fleets finding any enemy ships? The tab shows there are plenty around (approx ~90 between the two sea regions) and yet there are no naval battles at all. Should they be on Patrol/Strike Force duty instead of Naval Invasion Support?

Seriously, any help would be really appreciated! Thank you

There is an irritating 'feature/bug' that strike forces can give naval supremacy whilst in port. This makes sense (the whole 'Fleet-in-being' concept) but can be a real problem once you've sunk all the AIs patrols and thus their strike force will never leave port - and still gives the supremacy bonus.

Port strike if you can or naval invade lower down.

The ships on strike force and naval invasion support aren't doing anything right now since they're too far away, you'll likely have to manually move them closer and then reassign them.

This exact thing happened to me when trying to invade UK as Germany, I sunk most of their escorts by bombing, but still couldn't get naval superiority, due to some enemy fleet being 'somewhere', but certainly not very close and unwilling to do battle.

I had to lure them out by creating a super aggressive, but weak enough fleet and raiding their convoys. And ONLY sent my main fleet on mission AFTER the battle started, otherwise they just wouldn't make a move.

1) Well, using better ships obviously, but from hawaii you definitely should be able to reach US Coast, everything but DD1. I'm not sure but if only a single ship can't reach the target, the entire fleet will count as not being able to get there, check the range of each ship type. What do those Red ! say?

3) Naval invasion support isn't for attacking enemy ships, nor gaining superiority, actually it does absolutely nothing until you press the "launch invasion" button (which you can't without naval superiority), they just try to bombard shores, where your troops land and (I believe) attack fleets that directly engage convoys with your troops (still respecting the 'Risk' setting).
- you are finding some ships, but if the strike force feels frightened they won't engage anyway.

Your fleet is giving you 0 naval superiority. You have 2 patrols active in that zone so that should definitely give you more than 0. Which means that they either lack the range, or you just assigned them and took the screenshot before they had a chance to get there.
