Can't call allies into defensive war

Description​

I am playing the Angevin Kingdom. I have Leon as a vassal, and Leon has a colonial nation - Leonese Columbia. Castille declared war on this Colonial Nation, and I immediately became war leader.

However, despite being attacked, my allies weren't called in as if it was a defensive war.

Steps to reproduce​

See description - I presume the issue occurs because it is my vassals colonial nation and not mine.

May also be relevant - at the time I was declared on, I was an attacker against New Zealand natives in a separate war. When I tried to call allies to help vs Castille, they complained about being called into multiple wars.
