Can you no longer scavenge special components?

Hi all.

I read somewhere that at one point, you could scavenge special components from the new 'Mechs if you had "Mech destruction" enabled, and a 'Mech got destroyed, but the special part survived (for instance Lance Command Mod or Missilery Suite).

I then read that the special component would be added to your inventory. However, it seems this method no longer works, can anyone confirm that this is no longer possible at all? Because then there's no reason for me to spend time trying.

IIRC that got patched out. Though my memory isn't what it used to be.
