One line summary of your issue
Battletech won't launch

What platform are you running the game on?
Steam

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10

Which version of the game are you running?
most up-to-date version (can't even access main menu to find out)

What DLC do you have installed?
None

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have played this game for almost forty hours with no issues but now the game will not launch! regardless of whether I launch it from Steam, from the BattleTech.exe, or from BattleTechLauncher.exe, it will not launch. the BattleTechLauncher.exe opens, but it does not open the game as it should. I cannot complete the required "attach output log" step in this form because no such file as output_log.txt even exists in the listed location. no crash file exists either.

Have you tried verifying your files?
Yes

Steps to reproduce the issue
1- open Steam client
2- click "play" button
3- Steam attempts to launch the game as the "play" button changes to the "cancel" button, but then it just becomes the "play" button again and the game never opens.

Attach DxDiag (PC), System Info log (Mac), or run sudo lshw -html > specs.html and uploaded specs.html (Linux)

If the game has ever run on this computer, that output log must be there!

Note that To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.
