How strange, you'd think we'd have seen other reports like this before now if this was a general issue!

Please try a **clean** reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BattleTech\
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\637090\
(first move the \remote\C#\SGS#\ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

- Install the game again
- add steam.exe and BattleTech.exe to the Whitelist of your antivirus app, whatever it is

If you still get any problem, please attach here a new dxdiag.txt and output_log.txt , thank you.

ok, uninstalled the game, deleted all the files and folders (gamepath was another, steamapps are not installed to default path), reinstalled game. antivirus is win10 included defender.

problem still there...

Please go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\ and delete the profiles.dat file .
Note it may be under Local, LocalLow or Roaming, depending. To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Then run a Steam Verify against the game, to check it installed fully.

how often should i delete the profiles.dat? it was deleted with the clean install. was deleted many times before when i tried different repaires.... and you all ignore that the problem only applies in german setting. if you play englisch, francais or any other language there is no problem. it also seems to apply only on the first view missions of the campaign. so if you really want to ignore the problem its up to you. i reported it, i tried all acceptable repair steps from my side. has anyone tried to reproduce the problem? i think not....

I take it deleting the file did not help then? That's odd because that error I quoted is always caused by a bad profile.

I didn't test this myself, only being able to use English. But surely if this affected every user in the German localisation we'd have had reports before now!

FYI there will almost certainly be no more patches for this game, so we'd better hope this is not a bug!

Anyway let's try a **clean** reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BattleTech\
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\637090\
(first move the \remote\C#\SGS#\ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

- Install the game again
- add steam.exe and BattleTech.exe to the Whitelist of your antivirus app, whatever it is

If you still get any problem, please attach a new dxdiag.txt and output_log.txt , thank you.
