So like, they wanted to join me now that zee kaiza is back in charge and the central powers is once again the domain of the kewl kidz, but apparently forming A-H means that Hungary and Czechoslovakia are coming along for the ride? I guess Poland is thinking that the whole insurance policy vs Stalin thing will work out nicely.

Your point is???

back when German Empire was Formed it was debated Hottly as to wether to unifie with Austro-Hung Empire.. thats including the entire Empire..

Also note who ever of the 3 in the Empire thier forms Austro-Hungarian Empire, and you get the option to integrate them and if they accept you only get Cores on the Nation that formed the Empire.

Meaning if Austria formed it, then you get core on all Austria Core lands, if Cze formed it then only Cze cores and dito for Hun, but not cors on the others, you will see that Cze & Hun lands are only Colonys compared to Austria, if they formed it, and vive versa for alternative Formers.

Kind of sad that you dont get cores on all Austria-Hun Empire lands, but better then nothing ^^, also its completly random if they form or or not so, next time around you might only get Austria if they dont go into the Empire etc.

Considering the amount of land Facist Germany gets through Focus's this evens the playing field in Terms of Territorial growth if one gets lucky when going down the Alternative Route with Kaiser ^^

Y'know, it wasn't really that hot outside of Austria.

Quite.
This was the age of nationalism, and any talk of unification was about Austria's German lands joining Germany, specifically the old Holy Roman Empire lands which included Bohemia and Slovenia... but that is all.

What HOI4 and A-H fanboys/girls don't seem to realise is that the fall of the Hapsburg empire was see as a liberation by EVERYONE outside of Austria (Even the Hungarians, who got the sweetest possible deal under the circumstances). By the 19th Century countries were realising the powerful force of nationalism, and the destabilising effects f having lots of nationalities under one border. Yugoslavia was already tearing itself apart y the 1930's, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Romania were also dealing with varying instability. Arguably, the only remaining successful strife-free multi-ethnic nations in Europe are Switzerland and Belgium (and of the two the latter has often come close to being carved up again).

A peaceful Anchluss should only be possible with Austria, Memelland, and the Sudetenland as historically, and perhaps with Eupen-Malmedy, Nordslowenien and Danzig (the city, not the HOI4 prvince) under particular circumstances.

But all the way to the Panonian plains and the Carpathian mountains? That's just silly :p

Arguments like this make my skin crawl. Nothing personal, but the truth of WWI is so ingrained in the West it’s sad that even well thinking persons accept nationalism as a potentially positive force.

Nationalism has always been a thing, bit Wilsons 14 points brought it to the fore. Multinational empires have been a thing for centuries by then, but now all peoples have to have their OWN state. Sadly the conclusion many took from this is that a state only works if the people are pure. This led to the disasters of WWII.

Austria probably shouldn't be willing to be integrated by Germany if it itself already re-formed the Austro-Hungarian empire. I'll be fixing this (but it won't make it in for the 1.5.2 patch unfortunately).

But if we stretch far enough we can get to Siebenbürgenland! Then we can just keep going until we hit the Volga Germans...

There's probably at least one German guy over in Kamchatka, so we might as well go all the way to the Pacific.

By the way, maybe attempting the Anschluss when Austria-Hungary is already reformed should present a risk of triggering the military coup?

To blame one thing for WW1 and WW2 is wrong.

There were similarly sized conflicts thrugh the entirety of European history. Religious wars, Spanish succesion and great Northern War, Austrian Succesion, Napoleonic wars were more or less a match for WW1 and WW2, if we look at cassualties in proportion to population. Local wars tended to be close in destruction on beligerents.

Nationalism was quite positive force, as it brought modern civics like democracy, rule of law, human rights, into actual existance, burrying aristocracy and idea of separate rulling class. It didn`t cause increases in wars or atrocities, it`s just we care far more about recent ones, and only believe certain things are atrocities only recently.
