Alliances and protestants

Are'nt all alliances with catholic countries broken when a country turns protestant? I'm playing as Austria and is allied with Wurtenberg. When they became protestant both the alliance and the royal marriage remained intact.

I thought about letting my armies teach them about the true faith but changed my mind partly because I was still allied to them but also because of their standing army of 60000men!!! I mean 60000 must be more than the population of there only province...

Remember that the population you see for provinces is the population of the major city, not the province itself. One-province nations still tend to have excessively large armies, though.

I was wondering about that as well. It even game me popups that my alliances with the newly turned Protestant countries were broken.

There was some bugs with this in 1.07. Haven't seen them in 1.08 yet though (though playing orthodox Russia I might have missed them =)

Is it posible to war with someone and change his religion to protestantic?

I know that it's posible with the other catholic religion.

No, forced conversion is only an option for counter-reformed Catholic and for Sunni Muslims against Shi'ites.

Well, yes, I kicked sunni but till it turned shia then but it just seems weird to me that the religiously fanatic can't force convert a state.
