All custom empires vanished, and replaced with some kind of broken empire.

I went into the user_empire_designs.txt file, and changed one of the machine empires "gender=" to female instead of not_set to see what would happen, and once I returned to the game, I was greeted with this. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Nope, reverting it doesn't fix it.

Well, obviously moving that file out will stop you having that problem, but how to recover your custom empires from the bad file is beyond me I'm afraid. Probably User Mods is the best place to get help on that.

@molloychimera79 Here's how you can extract your custom nations from out of your most recently created campaign file from before you made your edit. It'll be a bit of work, but it might be faster than trying to find what's wrong in your current file.
