"It is the opinion of many people today that this is one of the most critical elections in British history. Of course, it will be remembered as the election in which the British people took back their future and started to rebuild Britain. We have had the most unstable governments in the last few years, from both the Tories and the Labour Party. If this duopoly cannot provide a stable, working government, is there any other choice but to back an alternate? From these governments we have seen little accomplishments been made, despite our hardships throughout the years. Now with the high dissatisfaction among voters that we see today, I'm surprised that they haven't physically removed the government from power already. This is because the dogma being tossed around by Labour has created a dangerous situation in Britain. The national economy has been slumped by the government's totalitarian style control, more people have become poor and jobless under Labour, and our nation cannot even defend inside its own borders as seen in events such as Londonderry. All one needs to do is look outside to the reality of the situation and see past the deceiving claims made to us. Our nation is unequivocally and without a doubt worse off than when Labour snuck into government just three years ago. Can anyone be satisfied with Labour when Britain as a whole suffers so? From the poor working class, to the trade unionists, to the well-off, to the middle class, nobody has been safe from Monaghan and his extremist policies. The Labour you once knew is no more. The party of MacDonald, Attlee, and Bennett has expired and gone to meet its maker. It has kicked the bucket and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-party.

As a government which destroyed our commitment to the EEC by ravishing our economy, weakened our stance in NATO by allowing a series of foreign policy defeats, and aims to spread their ideology through our now crippled industries, how this group can hope to appeal to anybody beyond the absolute farthest of the left is an enigma to me. As good people in Britain have suffered because of this gross mismanagement, the Liberal Party is more than ready to offer solutions to fix our woes. It was not long ago that Gladstone, Asquith Lloyd George laid down the foundation of Britain's basis welfare state, improving the lives of millions of people. Since then our principles have not changed, and we are prepared to offer our services to the British people once more. The Tories may speak on how they are the natural party to fix this, but given the two-year Jacobs ministry, it is wise to refrain and consider what the Tories actually offer that's new for Britain. While I'm sure they are scrambling to bring conservative industrialists and aristocrats back into the country, we in the Liberal Party are working to put all Britons back on their feet in the face of this economic meltdown. We pledge to bring back trade to Britain, regain our standing among the international community, and put small businesses back into operation to lend a helping hand to our middle class which has been ignored for many years by Labour and Conservative alike. Let’s not forget that it was the Liberal nail in the board of Parliament that helped guide moderate, common-sense legislation through this rocky time.

Today we stand at the gates for a new tomorrow. We Liberals are the real alternate for Britain, with a guiding principle into the new era. With the Liberals at the helm we will usher in a new wave of liberalism into Britain. While Labour advocates blank solutions to real problems, and the Tories tell our unemployed workers 'You're on your own now.', we Liberals are prepared to act through government to give assistance to those we need help to find a job and give them opportunity to prosper again. We're ready to put our industry back in the hands of the people, not in the government as we've seen from the horrid effects of the IDA. Now that our society has been thrown into a battle for Britain, the question comes down to: 'Who's side are you on?'".

Londonderry, Northern Ireland
Ulster Unionist Party Rally

The Parliamentary Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party was once again on the road, canvassing the various constituencies of Northern Ireland to maintain his party’s predominance in the electorate. Threading carefully, he organized a rally in Londonderry, making sure it was to be attended by prominent Protestants and Catholics, men who were first and foremost democrats of good standing.

“Fellow citizens of Derry! I stand here today, on the scene of one of Northern Ireland’s darkest chapter, to speak with you about the real progress we have realized together over the past few years. The Ulster Unionist Party, your party, has been hard at work in Westminster to ensure prosperity for all Northern Irelanders.

In these electoral times, there will be those who will utter dark words against us. They will advise revolt, riots. They will tell you that this is the road to progress, to the elimination of all barriers. But these are nothing but lies.

The real progress is in the works. With the adoption of the Safer Communities Act, we have brought communities inside the policing decision process.

With the Northern Ireland Economic Diversification Act, we have breached the wall of economic discrimination against Catholics in our fair province, because it was the right thing to do.

Furthermore, with the Police Reform Act, we have ensured that our police forces should never become the arm of one community against another.

These are all tremendous progress, and these are all measures that were brought forward by the Ulster Unionist Party. All these measures were officially opposed by Labour. We fought to get them passed, and we did succeed, because they represent real progress.

You are facing a choice. You can listen to the voice of the sirens, and vote for those who would prefer riots and whose only achievement are broken windows, or you can return to Westminster the hard working Ulster Unionists who will always fight for all of you!

Thank you and vote Ulster Unionist on May 1st!”

"People of Belfast, long have we struggled against oppression by both the wealthy elite and our own fellow working class Protestants. The time for internal strife is gone. We must unite alongside the Protestants in order to usher in a new Northern Ireland. The Ulster Unionist Party claims to be the party of social progress and unity. This cannot be further from the truth. They are a Protestant party for a Protestant Ireland and they do not want you.

More importantly, they are the stooges set up by the Tories in Westminster to secure the interests of the owner class in Northern Ireland against the interests of the greater working class! The owners and aristocrats who long held officially sanctioned dominion over our Ulster county have done nothing but bleed us dry! They are the sons of those who in centuries past invaded our island, slaughtered our people, and sold us into slavery! The UUP constantly defends the interests of the fat bourgeois pigs who rule over us like parasites. It was the UUP government of Northern Ireland that took actions of dubious legality to prevent aspects of the Industrial Democracy Act from taking effect in Northern Ireland. Yes, friends, they fought against the English government in order to better screw over you. So not only must they be booted out of local government, but out of Westminster too. Over in London the UUP helped those Tory bastards repeal that glorious IDA that would have secured your prosperity in the face of exploitation. Right now all of Northern Ireland is represented by a bunch of old, Protestant, Tory bastards, and I don't think Belfast West can really abide by that!

The Labour Party isn't perfect, but they're the party for voting rights, for electoral reform, and for a socialist alternative for all of Britain! So go out and vote for Labour on May 1st and tell these RUC bastards exactly what we think of them! A socialist alternative for Ireland!"

- Lorcan Callaghan speaking to a crowd in Belfast West in support of the local Labour candidate for Parliament

Jarlath Connor announces his resignation after the crisis within the party, de facto dissolution of the Socialist Alliance for Britain and failure of establishing an agreement with Labour

[...] Given the political situation of Britain and the lack of support within the CPBG for the policies which I myself have defended since my entry in politics, and those Harry Politt stood for, I will resign from my position as the CPBG General Secretary and not seek re-election for my position as MP for Dagenham. [...] I am however, still, deeply convinced that these policies, are the best way to lead Britain to socialism.

"My fellow Britons, we at the edge of what may go down in the history of our country as the most disastrous administration of all time, and while the Prime Minister may not believe it was at all his fault, or that its failure rose from a lack of commitment, the true failure does not stem from such factors, but rather the attitude which pervades the Labour Party to this very day.

"The Labour Party has become the faction of ideological crusade and a dangerous idealism that places not people first, but instead a commitment to questionable social and economic practices, a commitment made all the more negative by their refusal to genuinely consider how their proposals will affect the livelihoods of our citizenry.

"That is not the vision I hold for Government. That is not the vision I hold for our nation's institutions, and even if Labour chooses to continue its course of feeding our people to the hounds of radical ideological convictions, the Conservative Party will not bend, nor break, in its commitment to the British people, first.

"The philosophy of a Conservative Government will not be one of blind adherence to ideology, but one of a commitment to making the best decisions for Britons, for our nation, and for the development of democracy abroad. It is our decision, then, whether we will die or live. Whether we will fight for the collapse of the market economy, or for economic growth. I will tell you my path, I will, that what we need most is pragmatism-with-principles, and that's what's going to heal our wounds."

Name: George Morin
Born: 1928
Profession: Politician (Independent Communist)
Constituency: Dagenham

From a working class family from Yorkshire, George Morin started working in a factory when he reached adulthood, after the World War. His father's early death affected his political beliefs, and made him firmly convinced that change was needed from the capitalist system to a socialist one. He very rapidly became involved within the Labour Movement, and joined the CPBG in 1946. Later, he managed to attend an University, and received political education, and majored, giving him the necessary knowledge to advance within the party, while staying close to the traditional working class values in which he believed.

Morin was however not always in agreement with the more pro-Sovietic factions of the party, and belonged to the wing that wanted to see agreements with Labour, both locally but also nationally if a compromise could be found. The happenings in Hungary was the first serious disagreement Morin had with the leaders of the CPBG. The Socialist Alliance for Britain and publication of the British Road to Socialism were two important factors behind Morin's growing political engagement and belief in British Socialism. With growing numbers in terms of support and members in the CPBG, he increasingly took part in the party's struggle for more democracy and rights for the workers.

Deceived by the government of Bennet and Leighton's right-wing stances, he stood for MP multiple times in traditional socialist constituencies, but never managed to win. He was one of the main participants of the demonstrations of the summer 1961, in which he engaged himself. Later in his career, he would admit that it was those demonstrations had convinced him that the Soviet Union was wrong on many points. As a convinced pacifist and opponent of the entry in the EEC, he was very disappointed by the foreign policies of Monaghan, but more supportive of the IDA. During this period he worked closely with an MP of the Communist Party, and was generally seen as one of the rising stars within it.

During the annual conference 1969 which split the party in two factions, Morin supported the anti-Soviet side and was fiercely opposed to the leadership of the party. After the conference, the party's disaster in all polls and the internal chaos that followed, George Morin was determined to stand in the constituency of Dagenham, to challenge the leader of the party and his Stalinist supporters. When Connor ended up resigning, Morin became the sole Communist candidate in the constituency, and was ready to fight in order for a continued presence in Parliament for the Communists that did not support the Soviet Union and disapproved the Stalinist stance.

"My friends and constituents,

I would like to begin by saying this. Whatever else you may say about me, I will say this: I am a man of my word. The Labour Party went into this parliamentary session promising to fundamentally transform the British economy in favor of the working class, and we have done just that. And no matter how much Tory propaganda may be disseminated, I stand by that as a genuinely transformative accomplishment and one that has been good for Britain. Just think that not three years ago, most families had essentially no household wealth. We have solved that problem in a single stroke. We pushed the bounds of the possible in our democratic society. And we have done so not just in the economic realm, but in the social realm as well. We have made illegal discrimination based on race and on sex, such that no Briton must fear loss of livelihood based on who their are and the bigotries of their employer. The Tories would like you to forget this, and would like to paint a version of history in which the only voices that matter are the posh and the privileged, who cry rivers of tears that they will no longer be able to afford a second yacht. Humbug, I say to them. I implore you, do not fall for silver-tongued Tory deputies promising beautiful reaction. They have no idea what they want to do or how they want to do it, just that they will wave their hands, conduct some sorcery and bring forth prosperity!

Labour is a cut above such scaremongering and economic hogwash. Labour has, ever since 1945, been a party of ideas. We will continue granting economic power to the poor through redistribution, as well as introducing a credit-management organization that all people will be able to access and bring financial power back into the hands of the people. We will continue to help forward the labour movement and restore the protections denied to workers by Tory backstabbing. And I can promise you this: we will not use dirty tricks to take money from the poor and give it to the rich without popular consent! The next time a Tory comes up to you and starts talking about his vision of fair play, ask him what's fair about sneaking in massively regressive acts through the backdoor on the eve of an election! All the Conservative Party has to offer you is a platform of lies, while Labour has a platform of ideas. I implore you to choose the latter on Election Day."

- Alistair Monaghan MP

((Not really public given that these are some IC thoughts, so I guess private))

The Communist Party of Great Britain had fractured after the lacks of reactions after the Bohemian Spring by the leadership, which had been intolerable to many elements within the party, perhaps more than the reactions after Hungary due to the change of times and the general mood of the Labour Movement. At the same time, Monaghan's policies in the economic domain appealed to many traditional CPBG voters, amongst them the long-term member George Morin. After the chaotical annual conference, he had decided to leave the party and challenge the party leader in his own constituency, a very bold move for which even some of the most radical anti-Soviet Communists had criticised him for.

While Morin had almost considered the option of joining the Labour Party, the internal situation of the party, pro-US foreign policy and general mood against the government had made him decide against it. Now looking back a while later, he realised that many parts of Labour had lost touch with the Labour Movement, and behind the radical facade Monaghan's party had compromised too much on core values. Instead, with the label of "Independent Communist" he had managed to attire large crowds in the constituency of Dagenham, enough to appear as a credible alternative to Connor, who was unpopular due to being considered to be the one responsible for the fracture of the party.

Now, his sudden resignation from the position of General Secretary and decision to not candidate changed everything for George Morin. Dagenham having been Communist since the redesign of constituencies, and him being the only Communist candidate gave him the advantage. Maybe this was the opportunity needed to enter Parliament, continue the fight for the Labour Movement and build a credible socialist alternative to Labour? Only time could tell.

Reactions:
West Belfast, Northern Ireland
Ulster Unionist Rally

Another day on the campaign trail, another city. Fitzpatrick’s agenda was packed and rhythm was of the utmost importance. As the car rolled up the alleyway to a large pub where the UUP rally was set to take place, Lochlan Fitzpatrick was discussing with his aide.

Aide: This civil war within the Conservative Party was quite damaging.

Fitzpatrick: You don’t tell me. This Bowsie almost got Labour reelected.

Aide: Will this cost us seats?

Fitzpatrick: We already have all the gorydamned seats in Northern Ireland, so the government will not be won here.

He stood out of the car and joined the crowd, shaking hands and holding babies (yes, in a pub) as he made his way to the rostrum.

“Fellow friends! It is once again my pleasure to be in this beautiful riding of West Belfast with your dynamic candidate, Brian McRoberts! I sure hope you will all ensure his return to Westminster, because I’ve got to tell ya, Brian’s been rock-solid in the debates and negotiations to tackle crime in our communities.

As you know, it has been a rough few years for everyone. But your Ulster Unionist remained constructive and vigorous in their objection to the failed policies of Alistair Monaghan and his Labour cronies.

While their failures are numerous, their record on crime is simply shameful. The ink was not even dry on Monaghan’s nomination that his Home Secretary, Parris Marr, moved forward a bill to save traitors and murderers from the well deserved punishment of death. This Labour government preferred to spend your tax money on the lifetime expenses of keeping them in our jails.

Over the past few years, the Ulster Unionist party has been at the forefront of the fight against crime, while Labour had been nothing but passively, at first, then actively friendly to the cause of those who would ruin us.

The Police Agencies Act! Labour voted against. Why? We shall never know, I guess dedicated units to fight high crime and corruption raised alarm for them.

The Safer communities Act! Labour voted against. Why? I guess they don’t want local communities to have a say in their policing. Doesn’t trust the common folk.

The Police Reform Act! Labour voted against! Why? Because Labour opposed ending discrimination in the police forces. Labour opposes ensuring better accountability in the police corps. Labour opposed improvements in our policing action.

And while these Labour gentlemen where voting against those Bills, what did they put forward to fight crime? NOTHING! And under their administration, the progress made in the Jacobs Ministry was erased. If at first it showed how soft-on-crime they were, it quickly appeared clear that they are in fact Crime-Friendly. Not exactly surprising coming from the party who committed the biggest heist in the history of Britain. They stole our prosperity.

On May 1st, it’s high time to tell this government that it is enough! Vote Ulster Unionist Party and let’s put an end to this madness! Vote Brian McRoberts in West Belfast! Thank you!”

He stood down, and gave a mighty public accolade to the local UUP candidate before mingling with the crowd who was shouting “Enough! Enough! Enough with Monaghan the Red!”.

Anderson strode out onto the platform, the bays of the crowd thundering in his ears. He remembered his time as backbencher, speaking to admittedly smaller crowds, and started to work himself into the proper frenzy. This was the moment! For too long the need to pander to the party right had constrained Labour, but now, with their treasons fully shown, it was time to give those wreckers a piece of his mind. Anderson gripped the lectern with both hands before leaning forwards, seeming to look every attendee straight in the eye.

"Britons, you have been betrayed. Betrayed by those who you thought your allies. For too long Harwick and his band of mimsying liberals have held Labour government after Labour Government to ransom, caring more for their shrinking bourgeois sentiments than the raising up of the British working class, the very reason for the existence of the Labour Party. Now, by their cowardice and inaction they have lead to the destruction of the IDA, the greatest friend to the working class the country had ever known.

But all is not lost. While the current government may have fallen, you now at the ballot box will have the chance to reverse this sorriest of treasons. So I warn you, do not be discouraged by the blandishments and honied words of the Liberals, who care not a jot for anyone other than the petit bourgeois. Nor fall for the howling indignations of the millionaire press, who are little more than a mouthpiece for those bloody handed assassins of the workers, The Conservative Party.

Before the previous general election I stood on a stage very much like this and told you all to be warriors for social justice. Well, my friends, now is the time to fight. Fight against the oligarchs, the Kleptocrats, and the traitors who would see you returned to chains, powerless and at their beck and call. Fight for your rights, and your freedoms. FIGHT FOR LABOUR, AND FOR VICTORY."

Anderson left the stage to thunderous applause and howls of anger.

"Well, that ought to light a fire under them, at least."

Hampstead (London), England
Conservative Rally

With the electoral campaign in full swing, the Conservatives and their allies had devised a strategy for a greater presence in many swing seats which could determine the election. With his affairs in good hands in Northern Ireland, Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick, the Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, had volunteered to tour some of the constituencies were his fiery rhetoric could help the cause.

Today, he was in Hampstead, in the Northern part of the Greater London area, a seat held by Labour MP Jacob Clarke Kirk, a raging socialist whose ugly mug explained why he believed to greatly in receiving handouts from the state, in the hope of being able to afford a woman. Or so Fitzpatrick hear in the Conservative cloakroom, which was not the most accurate source of gossip.

Addressing a moderate crowd of 200, he fired up his rhetoric as he was now used to do as a seasoned politician.

“Fellow Londoners, fellow people of Hampstead!

I stand today in front of your local unemployment office, a place which, all over Britain, we so bitterly learn to recognize as a familiar sight.

The current government of Alistair Monaghan has waged a vicious war against our economy and the Briton people, chaining him to the tribulation of a State-run economy. By the imposition of ill-advised and much decried communist policies, they have created the conditions for an exodus of all capital from this island.

With the finance sector in disarray, it was long until middle-class crumbled and folded under economic oppression. When these consumers stopped shopping, consumption plummeted, as the markets did, and everyone started losing their jobs, unless they were lucky enough to be working for the Government.

Where is the liberty in all that? The Labour policies are nothing but chains into which we are all thrown, at the mercy of a government whose place is fast becoming as ubiquitous as disastrous.

And while you were suffering from these foolish decisions, your MP, Jacob Clarke Kirk, rose in the House, not to defend you, but to support, vote after vote, the madness of Alistair Monaghan. How is Mr. Kirk helping you? Mr. Kirk is part of the problem, not the solution.

I stand here with a man you all know. He was your city Councillor for numerous years, a proud Briton and a man of action, industry, and common sense. On May 1st, vote Geoffrey Finsberg and the Conservative Party. Let’s say enough! Let’s put Britain on the way to prosperity once again, a sustainable prosperity, shared by all!

Thank you!”

Excerpt from speech in Dagenham by George Morin for the 1969 General Elections

"Ladies and gentlemen of Dagenham!
In this election, two old parties, both of which have failed in government, have declared themselves to be the two alternatives. One of them is the Conservative Party, deeply capitalist and imperialist in it's nature, led the country on the brink of chaos during the Jacobs Ministry of 1964 to 1966, with huge protests against the government and an entry in the EEC without popular approval. The other is the Labour Party that has led the country since 1966 with the government of Monaghan, which hasn't managed to have an independent foreign policy and has had a lot of internal struggle, loosing key votes on economic matters due to internal pro-monopoly capitalist opposition within their own benches.

I will not hide my sympathies for some of the policies carried forward by the Labour government led by Monaghan, such as those who granted increased power to the workers and aimed to improve industrial democracy. Although some of the aspects of these reforms were great advances for the workers, to the contrary of the Labour Party, I believe that socialist nationalisation, and not only collectivisation, is necessary for the industry and the workers of Britain, to stop the modern monopoly capitalism.

The current Member of Parliament for Dagenham, Jarlath Connor, has since 1958 also been the leader of the Communist Party of Great Britain, of which I was a member until recently. As you might already know, while Connor's records of voting in Parliament and struggle outside of it has always been in defense and for strengthening, his statements considering the actions of the Soviet Union, that the other main leaders of the CPBG agreed upon, caused me to leave the party in disagreement. As the successor of Mr. Connor, I will continue a struggle for Socialism in Britain, but fight aggressive interventions such as the one in the Soviet Union against Czechoslovakia, just as the Prime Minister did when he condemned the Soviet intervention.

Currently, Britain is a part of NATO, an alliance of countries lead by the U.S. Rather than ignoring the war in Burma and believing in status quo like the government, we need to change those policies. By negotiating the dissolution of NATO, the opposing block of the Warsaw Pact will no longer be needed. Britain will once again be able to control our own foreign policy and the dissolution of the different blocks will stop the current path towards a nuclear war. If our country stops all associations with the U.S, we will once again be able to say no to nuclear weapons in the country and proceed with nuclear disarmament, another policy which Labour has abandoned. That is the foreign policy our country needs, not cherry-picked condemnations and otherwise silence, such as Labour and the Conservatives have been acting! Britain can be more than just a puppet in the hands of imperialist interests.

I believe in a socialist future for Britain, and that is the one I will fight for as the Member of Parliament for Dagenham! Together fellow constituents, we can strengthen and defend the Labour Movement!"

George Morin campaigned with a rhetoric centred around traditional socialist values, close to those defended by Connor, but with a different foreign policy and an anti-Soviet rhetoric. While being friendly to Labour and the CPBG on some matters, he fiercely condemned both on others.

Exclusive Interview: The Telegraph sits down with Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick

As a fierce electoral campaign rages on, Ulster Unionist Parliamentary Leader, Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick, accepted to sit down with our editorial team to discuss about the recent months and the significance of this campaign.

Telegraph: Thank you for sitting with us, I understand you have a busy schedule.

Fitzpatrick: It is my pleasure to answer all questions; I believe our citizens deserve plain and straight answers. I’d like to first give my regards to my fellow constituents in South Antrim.

Telegraph: The last few months have seen intense legislative activity, with the repeal of the Industrial Democracy Act and the scaling back of the Labour Bill of Rights, which lead to the complete demise of the Labour government. Both bills have been introduced by you, how does it feel?

Fitzpatrick: Well, you must realize that this is a team effort. It’s not about the person who tables the Bill. Both initiatives were discussed with the Conservative Leadership and we all felt that there was a real possibility of passing legislation beneficial to Britons. In the end, Talfryn Ryley looked at me in the eye and told me to go table the bills, that the nation needed Conservatives to act decisively.

Telegraph: It is quite interesting that you bring up Conservative Leader Ryley, as recent rumours in some newspaper say that your relationship with the man soured over the last few months. Would you like to address these rumours?

Fitzpatrick: To be honest, I laughed when I heard those frivolous rumours. I can tell you that Talfryn Ryley was on board from day one on the Police Reform Bill. He even suggested improvements to ensure that the Bill has a softer touch on the public finances. Newspaper might gossip, but the truth of it is that Talfryn Ryley is a friend to Northern Ireland, a man who understands our needs and a proud Briton.

Telegraph: You sing praises for the man, yet, you buckled the whip line on the issue of the House of Lords’ Reform. Some claim you acted by vengeance, out of spite. What would you like to say to them.

Fitzpatrick: That is a bunch of malarkey and those who think I would waste the vote of my constituents on my personal feelings are terribly misinformed. I voted for the Liberal bill because it was a common sense measure, which had tremendous advantages for Northern Ireland. Not only will the House of Lords find legitimacy in being elected, but the fact that local councillors will take part in these elections will ensure some Catholic representation in the Lords, a significant progress.

Telegraph: Speaking of Catholics, some candidates on the campaign trail, especially Labour, accuses your party of being, and I quote “Old protestants Tory bastards” who will “bleed us dry”. What do you have to say against such dreadful charges?

Fitzpatrick: Quite simply, Ulster Unionists are fighting for the good of all Britons. When I look at Northern Ireland, I do not see Protestants and Catholics. I see my brothers and sisters. When I rise in the House of Commons, I do not rise for Protestants, or for Catholics. I rise for all Northern Irelanders. There has been tremendous progress in fighting economic discrimination, police discrimination over the past few years. Today, all of Northern Ireland’s citizens have access to economic diversification programs, are represented in their Police forces, and will be represented in the House of Lords. This was not achieved by slogans and bricks through windows; this was achieved through hard-work, unity and the willpower of your Ulster Unionist MPs. As for Labour, they have proposed nothing for Northern Ireland and they opposed everything. So I have no doubt the fair people of Northern Ireland will tell them “Thanks but not thanks”.

Liberal Candidates Enjoy "Jo-mentum" Pre-Election

As the controversial Monaghan ministry seems to likely come to an abrupt end this General Election, the Liberal Party has taken the advantage of the former's unpopularity. While the Tories have moved into first with a wide margin against Labour, the Liberals are now making the move to out Labour for second place. Despite being close in range previously, the Repeal of the Industrial Democracy Act has been spectated to have widened this gap in favor of the Liberal Party, as some polls now have returned with the party's highest numbers in decades. As the party was key in the passing of critical legislations during the last few years of the Monaghan ministry, the Liberals have benefited from victories such as reform of the local government and recently the House of Lords in conjunction with the rising support the party has since the last election. But in addition to the legislative successes of the Liberals, and also the failure of opponents, the party has seen a rejuvenation from energetic candidates across Britain to bring in support.

One of them is North Cornwall candidate Scarlet Browne, who has been an MP there since 1964. Known by local supporters as "Lady Liberal", for being the only female member in Parliament for the Liberals, has been an outspoken voice against Monaghan, the Labour Party, and her Conservative opponents. "As the Labour Party has veered off to the far-left with the Communists, we hope to show voters the clear and present alternative to not just the radicalism we've seen in recent years from the government, but also the Tories. We've seen all their stunts before, and quite frankly, we need a new force in government to bring progress and well-being that we Britons can and will achieve. While I'm sure Ryley and his bunch would love to have an 'All-Tory Britain', this country doesn't need a repeat of the lackluster Jacobs. We can do better. I mean, even Tories such as Thornbloom agree."

Browne went on to describe the Liberal phenomenon that had been inching it's way back into British politics over the past few years. "I couldn't be happier about it, really. I believe it marks an important time in our nation's history, that we are sick both radical Labourism and status quo Toryism. We are the party of Lloyd George, Asquith, and Gladstone, and the Liberal Party is ready to bring a new legacy to Britain, and all of it's people. I personally am working quite hard with Jo Grimond and Robert Alistair to make that a reality this election campaign."

In recent days, Browne has campaigned for the Liberal Party along with members such as Thorpe of North Devon, Lubbock of Orpington, and Party Leader Grimond of Orkney and Shetland. With the party looking for large gains this election, it's giving all it possibly can in order to gain a strong swing from Labour to propel its position in the next parliament.

J.C. Kirk exited Labour Party HQ with a purpose renewed. It looked desperate, but not hopeless for the Labour party. The Communist Party was shattered, the Conservatives only recently recovering from an attempted coup and Labour, despite it's splits saw some mending in the crucible of pressure they were under.

He'd just delivered major input to the economic portion of the Labour party's manifesto and hoped to see it ran on nearly entirely intact.

However that wasn't the end of his input for a Labour victory, no, he was going on the campaign trail to speak to thousands in total to rally support for the Labour party for election day.

As so far was in his power, he wasn't going to let the hard fought successes of the Labour party slip away that easily.

To coordinate funding strategies, Britain’s business leaders met in Brown Capitals board room.

“Gentlemen” John addressed the attendees. “The coming election will be critical in purging communism from mainstream political discourse, as such we need to spare no expense in aiding the Tories win”.

“Currently their greatest threat Thornbloom’s little rebellion creating an image of a fractured party, as such we need to get him to step back in line.” “Brooks” he said turning his head to the chairman of Rolls-Royse. “Can you get Mr. Thornbloom a new car? Hopefully this gift will get him to cooperate”.

“And remember, if we fail, then Labor will come back and so will IDA, and I don’t think we will be able to repeal it next time.”

St. Lucia Barracks - Omagh, (Mid-Ulster), Northern Ireland
Ulster Unionist Rally

With the electoral campaign in full swing, the Ulster Unionist Party was putting the maximum efforts to retain its seats, while running a campaign on local and national issues. One of such issue was the sad state of the nation's military, the once proud apparatus who defeated the forces of tyranny had been starved in the recent years, leading to humbling moments on the international scene.

Speaking to a crowd of 300, massed on a campaign road with the St. Lucia Barracks in the backdrop, Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick, Shadow minister for Defense, was busy crucifying the Monaghan Ministry on their weakness on Defense.

"Friends, fellow supporters. Despite our political differences, we always rallied around our institutions in times of need and peril. For decades, the British Army, our British Army, kept us safe and projected Britain's strength abroad, commanding respect.

30 years ago, I was on the beaches of Dunkirk with my brothers in arms. We did our duty and faced the forces of oppression and tyranny, assured that the whole nation and our government had our back.

Sadly, today, British soldiers have been abandoned by their government, who slashed the military budget by 30%, delaying the necessary modernisation of our forces, crippling our army's effectiveness and capacity to respond, and leaving Britain behind her rivals, ever more dependant of American might for our safety.

The constant gnawing by Labour at the roots of British greatness must end. Our international obligations require a modern army, well equipped and well trained. I know for sure that our boys are ready to do the work, to fulfill their patriotic duty and fight for our freedom wherever they are deployed. We need to have their back! We need to properly fund our armed forces and ensure that they have the equipment they need to be safe, and keep us safe.

Which is why the Ulster Unionist Party will work tirelessly to ensure adequate funding for our armed forces. We cannot afford to ignore this situation. Delaying this decision could have dire consequences.

I know you share my concerns, and that you too wishes for our troops to be safe, and Britain to be respected abroad. Your retiring MP, Georges Forrest, was steadfast on this issue in Westminster and I would like to thank him for his service. We have with us today your Ulster Unionist candidate, Neville Thornton, who stands ready to continue making Omagh and Mid-Ulster strong!

On May 1st, vote for a candidate who believes in you. Vote for a candidate who had your security at heart. Vote Neville Thornton and send a loud message to Alistair Monaghan and his cronies: Enough!"

Thank you!"

"The Labour government has been the greatest friend to you, the people of Northern Ireland, and all working men across Britain in Westminster since the days of Clement Attlee. Not only did they pass the revolutionary Industrial Democracy Act, which reformed our entire economy in favor of you, the working man, but they have also reformed and built up the NHS. Think today about all the services and progress we have made since the War. All this progress has been spearheaded by the Labour Party and the Labour Party alone. All along the way the Conservatives and their UUP lackeys have opposed these measures. Today the UUP sit in Westminster and conspire with their snobby English friends to repeal all the progress we have made. The UUP and the Tories say they are moderate and will retain the services established by Labour. This is nothing but a lie. The Tories are today waging a war on the poor. They have repealed the landmark IDA and they are now conspiring to cut services, abolish the NHS, and return us to the days of exploitation. They have already crafted legislation to weaken our unions and to make striking illegal. This cannot be allowed to stand. The UUP will come into town and make a lot of noise about police reform and economic recovery, these are all pretty words meant to fool you. The UUP supports the RUC's blatant discrimination and criminal behavior, while also supporting only the industrialists and nobility of this fair land.

If you want to build an Ireland for all then you must go out on May 5th and vote Labour! A vote for our Labour candidates is a vote for a socialist alternative for Northern Ireland. This alternative can be summed up in three words, Healthcare, Prosperity, and Voting Rights! Only with Labour can we gain for ourselves a truly democratic and socialist Northern Ireland. Forward with Northern Ireland, Forward with Labour!"

- Lorcan Callaghan speaking in Belfast North as he tours Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland in support of Labour and democratic engagement
