I and a friend want to start a long during MP game with the two of us. What would be interesting regions to start in for the both of us?

We looking for two smaller regions that won't get bashed in the first 10 years, that aren't under the same Liege. Both have to be of similar order economically, politically and militarily.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Italy and England, or rather a duchy from each of these for you two might perhaps be what you are looking for. Of course, a duke in Italy might have the chance to become the emperor of Germany, but perhaps you could agree not to push for that (at least initially). Another option would be to take duchies from France and England.
