Description
Clear/Reflective ground. texture problem

Mac

Steam

What is your game version?
1010638

What DLC do you have installed?
Space Race, Green Planet, Below and Beyond, In-Dome Buildings Pack

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
seems like a lot of textures on the ground are unavailable. the weird reflective/transparent places "grow" throughout the game as the ground is modified. at this point the game has become unplayable. Apparently this has happened to many other players. I have already done the verify integrity of game files option in steam.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes. the issue usually starts with my first installed dome, then grows around that and every time thereafter that I modify the ground in any way.

Is this on an Intel Mac, or an M1 one?

Then I'm afraid this is a reported problem, that has not yet been fixed:

As the M1 is strictly speaking unsupported hardware for the game, it is possible it will never be fixed, I'm sorry to say!

Understood thank you for that response. What a huge bummer. Over 200 hours into this game, I got a new laptop in part because i hoped it would run games like this better. Hopefully there will be a new version at some point.

Well "strictly speaking" there is nowhere an information that this game only runs on intel chips,... I understand "minimum requirement" and "recommended requirement" not as an exclusion for everything else.

So why assume that it will not be corrected, rather we should demand that it be corrected, right?

The actual intent is that anything not covered by them is unsupported. Otherwise how would we document supported vs unsupported hardware in the form Steam give us to do so?

The bottom line is none of our games have been ported to native M1 code so we are dependent on Apple's Rosetta Intel emulation. It may be that newer versions of that in later MacOS version will help these issues, but it cannot be guaranteed.

Sorry about that!

I also have this problem but do not use a Mac PC does that make a difference?
Yes, it does. Please make a new thread with full system details and problem history, thanks.

Really looking forward this being fixed for Apple Silicon Macs.

There were some attempts in MOD community to fix this — but the attempts introduce their own problems.

If MOD community could try doing something about, then surely PARADOX should be capable of fixing this.

Sadly, for me, just this aspect of "holes" significantly diminishes enjoyment and willingness to play the game.
