Unable to Launch the Game from the Launcher (1.33.2)

Using version 1.33, with all major DLC, no mods, on Steam/Windows. When launching the game through the Launcher, I get a red triangle that gives the error "Launching the Game Failed". I've tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, verifying my Steam Files, as well as adding exclusions for eu4.exe and the entire Paradox Interactive folder under my AppData in the Windows Defender application.

I can launch the game just fine if I run the eu4.exe directly, but I'd like to be able to use the launcher to eventually set mod playsets.

Additionally, about half the time I start the game, I'm missing buttons and options within the game, like the ability to recruit more units from the army/navy windows, and the button that allows me to make naval group templates.

Any insight anyone can give would be appreciated!

What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

eu4.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam EU4 folder)
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.4/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT eu4.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

Setting the files to run as an Administrator worked! Thank you!

i have mcafee but i have to renew it. ok for eu4.exe and dowser.exe but there is no paradox launcher.exe and bootstrapper-v2.exe in the folders!!! i didn't finde them!!!

To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.
