Freeze on “Loading savegame: 0%”

I’m starting a new game after Livy and hotfix updates but when I press Play from the main menu, it freezes on “Loading savegame: 0%” before it gets to the nation selection screen.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Imperator or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.

Hi, I did the full reinstall and it still freezes at the same point. The music continues but it doesn’t progress past 0%.

There was no folder in Steam - assume it was removed in uninstall. Deleted folder in Paradox. Added to windows defender.

I don’t have any mods installed.

Any other suggestions?

The clean reinstall has had an excellent success rate with fixing this exact problem. Are you 100% sure you deleted both the Steam-IR and Documents-IR folders before installing again?

I redid the uninstallation but still freezes at the same point. I also tried the other fix linked and no impact.

There is no folder in Steam for me.

No, you said to delete it after you the uninstall but I assume the uninstall deleted it as both times there was no folder there.

Can we get dxdiag.txt from each machine please?

And any error.log and exceptions.log from Documents/paradox/imperator/ogs/ from the problem machine, thanks.

Here you go. There is no exception log.

But the AMD video driver is from 2015, I think this is the current one:

Or you could check on the Samsung site for their latest driver for it.

Had the same error on my laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 + AMD Radeon 8730M. Turning off the Radeon helped.

Had the same error, tried clean reinstall as suggested above and no joy. Then edited the txt file, although mine didn't say 'disabled' it said '2048x2048'. I've checked my drivers are up to date as far as I can, although am still checking the manufacturer's website. Interestingly also a laptop, with a similar dual graphics card set up.

My error log etc are attached.

On the AMD site there is an optional driver from 2016 which is the last ever for those older AMD HD cards; not that I expect that to help this issue, just so you know.

The finding above that running the game on the Intel helped is unexpected, as it's hard to see what video systems have to do with scanning saved games, but easy to try.

try this: in your AMD graphics control center put game launcher in power saving mod.
