Prologue
Dreams of conquest and lebensraum have shaped the Fuhrer’s life and short rule (thus far) as leader of the German Volk (people). However, Herr Hitler has never had a shortage of dreams, rather, quite to the contrary, an astonishing surplus. As he continues to solidify his position as the center of the power vacuum leading Germany, these dreams only intensify as the ideas that were once unbeknownst to anyone but Hitler himself are becoming the beacon of hope for the German population devastated by the treaty of Versailles.
In these trying times for Germany, Hitler knows that if he does not quench the country’s rabid unemployment his days in power will be numbered regardless of the force he employs. He quickly turned to the German President of the Reichsbank, Dr. Hjalmar Schacht to help him save the German Reichsmark, and find a solution to eliminate the economic woes of the country. Hitler knows that a country could not fight a war without a unified home front, and he also knows a recovering economy will be crucial to his ability to enhance his production of weapons of war.
The fear of running out of industrial materials, due to the evident lack of sufficient production of these metals and rubbers at home was beginning to start to creep into Hitler’s mind. This fear often became additional fodder for his desire of conquest in the East to once and for all satisfy the thirst of the German industry for raw materials. Needless to say, Hitler knows he must bridge the gap between present day and eventual (hopeful) conquest of the Soviet Union by trading with his ideological enemy in the Communists with the goal of bolstering his own war effort.

Meeting of the Cabinet, Old Reich Chancellery
The anxiety of the cabinet members of the room has been gradually increasing as they wait for the entrance of the Fuhrer to discuss the daily agenda. As they talked amongst themselves, they quickly realized that none of them, not even Stellvertreter des Fuhrers himself, Rudolf Hess had even the slightest of inclinations as to what could have inspired Hitler to hold such an unprecedented midnight meeting.
Like the meeting, the weather was equally unusual. An uncharacteristic period of warm weather and rain had been enveloping much of Germany since the days following Christmas. On the night of December 31st, a large thunderstorm was ripping through the city of Berlin, but nonetheless, the citizens were celebrating the new year and the change that they hoped it would bring to Germany. When the Fuhrer walked into the meeting, at 12:05 AM, one of the loudest claps of thunder of the night struck nearby, on cue with the entrance of Hitler, signifying the importance of the moment.
“Gentleman” Hitler said, “I take you away from your families and festivities of the night for an important reason.” There was an unexpected pause, and as a minute passed, every member of the cabinet and his aides wanted to know why they had been called, but none had the guts to break the deafening silence.
When Hitler finally spoke, he said one word, “Empire”. There was another long pause, as Hitler let this notion resonate and sink into each member of the cabinet. “In the last three years, we have maneuvered the country down the path of redemption, and now, it is time to take the next step, rearmament.”
An unnamed cabinet member interjected “But mein Fuhrer”…
Hitler simply talked right over him “SILENCE, we will rearm Germany, we will destroy the treaty of Versailles, we will restore the trampled pride of the German people. We will use cunning, deception, diplomacy, espionage, suppression, by God we will do whatever it takes. I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature. It is not truth that matters, but victory. Germany will be a great power, or not be at all.”
“While misleading our persecutors, the wretched French and English, we will build an armed forces of the likes of which the world has never seen before. No branch will be neglected, and each will be instrumental in our reformation of the Greater Germany and denouncement of the damned Treaty of Versailles. I come to you today to inform you all, brace for change, and most of all, embrace that change. This is the year where we begin the revitalization of our once proud nation of Germany into not just a world power, but the world power. Let me assure you that makers of empires have fought for bigger things than crowns, and higher seats than thrones. This my friends, is our destiny.”
