I don't get the ending, Philip passed the tests and all that, why did he end it that way?

I think that Philip will go home ...but he...stay there? Why ? Why he stopped to fight ? He just give up..that's sad..I really like this person but in the end he died ? Why?

Oh..aha...oh now i understand...Maybe this test was just to ease from his mind..or..i don't now ...that' strange..
Whole 'Archaic' and all of events that took place there were strange but research on Tuurngait Tomb was the craziest thing they ever made. Between tests Tuurngait (?) is talking about mankind, especially about Phillip and his dad, Howard. People were just greedy intruders and thats why they paid such price.
On the last page of 'Howard's Final Words' is also very interesting text, even if short

'Today I communed wit Tuurngait mind. I was correct - it is inteligent beyond our wildest imagination.
It told me everything... Everything I needed to know.
You could not imagine it.
I cannot accept it.
God forgive us.'
