As king of Sweden I swore fealty to the Holy Roman Emperor, became an elector by getting the duchy of Saxony, and my son and heir is now duke of two duchies within the HRE (both de jure and direct vassal to the HRE), as well as claimant (weak claim) to the HRE. Both my character and his son are Catholic and secretly Germanic.

I want to start a faction to install my son as HRE or propose him for the succession by voting, but he doesn't show up as a valid candidate and I can't start a faction for him. My question is why? Could it be because he is secretly Germanic and the game counts that as not being Catholic? I can vote and start a faction for any other duke within the HRE, but not for my son, who also has a claim.
