They won't ally...

Hi

there's something I don't get in the alliance process.
In my current game, I play France. We are in 1516; my territory is the actual France + Belgium + Netherlands + Aragon + Dalmatian coast; Austria, Spain, Bavaria, Helvetia, England, Luxemburg are my vassals; the last three are my allies. I have tried several times (i.e. also in several reloads...) to ally with Austria & Spain with high relationship score (above 150) and RM, but neither will accept. Does the size of my territory account for this? What should I do so that they accept?

I seldom can get more than 4 allies in alliance but yes more than three.

You can´t get more than 4 allies in your alliance by offerering them to join. More than 4 is only possible if you already have 4 and then one of the few events fires that would make them your ally.
So when Switzerland, England and Luxemburg are your allies then you can only successfully offer an alliance to *1* other state. Unless you would annex or ban one from your alliance e.g. LUX - then you would have 2 places free for allies.

In 1516 France does not have cores on all the provinces you mentioned. So you probably have collected lots of BB points.

Too much a BB indeed (in the 29-34 area), not an issue of slot in my alliance system because I have got one more and no one wants to take it (be it Spain, Austria or even Bavaria).

Got to get rid of some non-core provinces... :mellow:
