Dearest Paradox Team,

first of all I'd like to say tack så jättemycket for a great 1.30patch/DLC (some finetuning needed, but overall an amazing job!). I am personally very happy about the changes in the Southern German region, especially the Swabian states. With the addition of Konstanz, Mulhouse, Bregenz, the Austrian Breisgau and the other changes the map now looks much closer to the historical "patchwork rug" of dozen of small states.

While I really enjoy the new map, I think the implementation of the NI set "Swabian City-States" (https://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Group_national_ideas#Swabian_City-State) is frankly speaking a bit a "over-simplified" solution (sorry if it sounds harsh, not intended, but lacking better words :) ). I absolutely see your intention and do get the historical references being present in this idea set, but in my humble opinion those NIs are just not really fitting to the respective tags since they are a strange mix of too locally tailored references and not at all taking the local/regional specifics and different history into account and hence limit the potential flavor and uniqueness for the tags represented by this idea set. Since there is also an idea set for an unified Swabia I think there is room for unique NIs for the Swabian tags.

Take Mulhouse for example, their "contribution" to the Swabian City-State NIs is the Decapole. Mulhouse left the Decapole already in 1515 to be an associated city to the Swiss Confederacy, with the first contracts between Mulhouse and the Swiss Confederacy being signed in 1466 already. (Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Décapole and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Swiss_Confederacy) The current placement of Decapolis as the 4th idea, would mean that the only tag relevant for this idea would be by the time the idea is unlocked historically not part of the Decapolis anymore. Furthermore Mulhouse was never part of the Swabian League but belonged to the Upper Rheinish Circle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_Rhenish_Circle) and while it is surely fitting that Mulhouse is of Swabian culture it is questionable if politically they should share an idea set with other Swabian countries if so clearly belonging to other political entities (Decapolis - only Alsacian cities; Upper Rhenish Cirlcle; Association to Swiss Confederacy).

Personally I also think that Konstanz deserves an unique idea set. I might be biased since I wrote a lot of suggestion myself (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/constance-ni-and-events-replacing-ravensburg.1016177/) but others also contributed with great ideas on how Konstanz could be represented much better fitting than with the current generic idea set. Ideas like "By the Iller" and "Bavarian Resistence" are referring to locations and events which happened over a hundred kilometers away from Konstanz and were not really relevant for the city. Both ideas are certainly (more) fitting for the two tags Memmingen and Donauwörth which are bordering Bavarian culture lands, but are not really relevant for Konstanz or Mulhouse. Konstanz has given it's neighborhood with the Swiss Confederacy, it's unique history with events such as the Council of Konstanz and others the potential for a very interesting and unique idea set which would add much more flavor than this very generalizing generic set.

Memmingen and Donauwörth could also get own ideas or at least replace ideas such as Decapole with better fitting regional content. I am not so much an expert on both cities, but of course happy to research a bit to come up with unique content. @Palando wrote down a lot of great content and has some ideas for Memmingen compiled already: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...s-dhes-and-suggestions.1001758/#post-22686246 In the same forum he also wrote down a lot of DHEs and flavor events for Bavarian tags (including Memmingen), same as I added some flavor events for many Swabian tags here:
Konstanz: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...e-ni-and-events-replacing-ravensburg.1016177/
Württemberg: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/flavor-events-for-wurttemberg.1003175/
Baden: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...s-for-baden-now-in-the-proper-thread.1000926/
Alsace (now partly for Mulhouse and Strassbourg): https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/alsace-ni.1053858/

I think with a little more attention the region could give even more of a unique character and satisfy the historically diverse events and developments much better ;) As I said, love you guys for listening to the player base and introuding so many suggestion from the forum already, so please do not understand this as a rant at all! Just would love to see the region even better represented! Thanks in advance for your consideration and happy to discuss the ideas further :)

Dear EU4 Team,

Given your current re-work and balancing fixes I would like to bring my my old post about Swabian City ideas to attention (see above).

I think giving the same set of NIs to four nations is not at all doing justice to a culturally and historical diverse region in Southern Germany and are for me a missed chance, not only from a historic standpoint but moreover for game play reasons. It takes away a lot of the uniqueness and makes the said nations more or less interchangeable, a bit boring, and doesn't add much immersion to this region.

Thus @Gnivom please consider replacing this generalising set of NIs with better fitting options.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and all constructive feedback :)

Bookmarked.
I can tell you right now that this won't make a cut into 1.33, but I keep this in mind for a later patch.
No promises though.

Thank you so much for your consideration!

I fully understand that it's late for the current patch but as we all know, good things take time, so I am happily waiting ;)

The thing is: it's not only the provinces, there are also actually tags for Donauwörth, Ruppin and Paderborn. The same goes for Calenberg, Lippe and Osnabrück. These countries, for all purposes, exist in EU4.

If you have these tags and they were in fact independent in 1444, it is inaccurate not to have them start independent. The reason for this inaccuracy is of course game balance.
Particularly Donauwörth not being independent is something I'm inclined to disagree with, considering that its annexation by Bavaria was the immediate cause for the formation of the Evangelic Union and Catholic League and thus was a central event in the lead-up to the Thirty Years War.

Btw as a side-note: the free imperial city was called "Schwäbischwerd", not Donauwörth. Hence, both the country name and the standard province name should be Schwäbischwerd. It was renamed Donauwörth by the Bavarians - hence Donauwörth should be the dynamic province name for Bavarian (possibly also Austrian) cultured countries.
I'd like to also bring up the wrong naming of Donauwörth, which as @Twoflower pointed out in another thread was indeed only later renamed to Donauwörth. Before it was known as Schwäbischwerd.

He also mentiones that the city played a central role / was the trigger for the formation of the protestant union and hence offers a lot of interesting opportunities for additional flavor
