Savegame corrupted

After putting dozens, probably hundreds of hours into my latest Ironman as the Count of Viscaya in 769... now in the 850s my savegame got corrupted somehow. I just loaded up the game, but whatever I try, it loads the year 1066 and the map is completely blank, no realms whatsoever.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything I can do? If not, this was probably my last Ironman game ever.

That sucks man. I don’t know how to fix it, but I do have a tip for you. Back up your savegame.

I had one very disappointing run to get the achievement to conquer Mongolia as a norse character, only to find out that Ironman was somehow turned off in the save (did start out as iron man) and I didn’t get it after what felt like hundreds of hours.

Ever since than I copy paste my savegame after playing, never had that problem anymore.

Good idea. Man, that is such a pain in the arse. I had made it all the way to an Empire, vassalised two Mercenary companies....
