The mod is crashing on start. Is there a way that's better suited for indicating the error in this scenario?

Like MartinBG said, enable the error checker, set it to 1. (see my signature).
How far has the progress bar travelled before it crashes?
After the crash, look at the bottom line in the savedebug.txt file, what was the mod doing when it crashed?
Most important, what did you just change to cause the crash?
