I've had this thought for a while but wouldn't it be really challenging and realistic to have the option when creating a game to hide the opinion bar. Rather than the game telling you how others view you, you will need to figure it out via traits and memory. This is realistic as people never really know how others feel about them. Also, some traits can be hidden and not as well known until revealed, like cruel, or lustful, while other traits can be well known and visible like brave, just, or arbitrary. This I feel would be realistic as it would be widely known if someone was a just ruler, while it wouldn't really be that obvious if someone was actually a cruel person. There can be events to find the truth of people and it makes it much harder as an Emperor controlling half the map to actually stay in power as you never know which vassals hate you and are planning for your fall. Lastly, it would also be realistic to not show on birth if your child is a genius or strong. as babies are not obviously super smart at birth, this would also help stop simply abandoning children at birth if they don't possess good enough traits and actually make family building a realistic process, also it's realistic.
