I saw that in your (great) game the italian oto melara 76mm cannon makes some appearance. Still its maximum range is limited to - i think - 5nm.

Actually, with the enhanced VULCANO ammunition, this cannon can reach up to 40km that is ~21nm. Also the rate of fire of this cannon in the game is quite low, while the "Super Rapido" version should be able to fire 120 rounds per minute.

On the other hand the 127/64mm OTOBREDA cannon should be able to fire VULCANO ammunition up to 100km, that is basically the range of an Harpoon missle. It would be cool to have a ship equipped with such a weapon, maybe in a DLC, because it really seems a game-changing improvement that could bring back usefullness in naval artillery.

Hello and thanks,

Both the 127 and 76 mm Oto Melara guns in the game has a max range of 30 kms (16.2nm). Real life range and accuracy varies greatly with configurations and particularly ammunition types, as you note.

As it is, the game doesn't simulate ballistic ammunition well enough to have a satisfying effect with very long range guns. It's pretty trivial to mod in the changes you describe, but the weapons will typically be overpowered.

Each "shot" in the game is intended to simulate a burst, not a single shot.

Well, i see your point in saying "modern naval warfare is missile warfare, so there's no point in invest a lot of time in an accurate artillery model", but maybe in a DLC you could improbe the whole artillery thing. With these new extended range, guided ammunition, high rate of fire capable, modern guns, it will be probably a nice addition to the gameplay.

Also, 2030 could mean "railguns"...
