Why are minors and in some cases the Ottoman taking defender of faith, it is quite annyoing to spend the 500 against some minor like Mainz for catholic defender of faith just because he has some gold left over.

I had Nuremberg, then Ansbach, then Frankfurt take it. Did not even get a notification (though guess that is on me, maybe I can set it up). Then I took it back, and a few years later it went through German minors again. Why are minors and in some cases the Ottoman taking defender of faith, it is quite annyoing to spend the 500 against some minor like Mainz for catholic defender of faith just because he has some gold left over.
Would make sense if a requirement was that religious ideas were taken or is a Theologist state tooWhile it is great that other nations do take it now, maybe make it less likely that OPMs switch it around? Make it based on a minimum dev, amount of provinces, standing army, etc?
You wouldn't be able to take it in 1444 thenWould make sense if a requirement was that religious ideas were taken or is a Theologist state too

Dotf works only for countries on the same continent. We used to have DoF for a while for ai nations, but it lead to an absolute unplayable cluster of nations, as the Ottomans or Spain would defend each catholic sunni country, it breaks the game because ai will not be able to say, I dont whant to fight for an opm in Africa, it must fight.
Sorry for the slight off topic but this part always annoyed me to no end. How is it still implemented like this? Ottomans don't have to bother with Ethiopia conquering Arabia but Indonesia is supposed to defend Kazan from Russia?Dotf works only for countries on the same continent.
I guess they 'kinda forgot about it' like in GoTYeah, it has the same issues as before when they disabled it. Not sure why it was re-added without significant changes to it.
Well, it was a different team back then. The AI economy is better, so countries aren't going into debt to take it. But it still means they didn't really listen to the feedback that was provided, unfortunately.I guess they 'kinda forgot about it' like in GoT
