The blue color from this flag looks like this.

Personally, I would choose the second color.
And I would prefer the first one. I think that in case of second colour, should Portugal occupy Tlemcen's territory, it would be a hardly-distinguishable mess of tints.

In these conditions, green Tlemcen looks better, despite the colours of it's flag.

Also, don't forget about the color of Mzab Touggourt. Although it's rarely seen to succeed, It may be a mess of colours as well.

On the contrary, Tlemcen is too rarely seen to suceed. Instead I see it gobbled by Morocco and Tunisia most of the times, and Algieria is usually a no-show.

I changed the color of tunisia to the new portuguese color the colors do not clash with each other.

But what about the situation when province comes under Portugal's occupation (criss-crossed with other country's color in the map)?

In both of your variations?

country color change is only 2 minutes
True, but the devs said:
The issue with inserting changes into the game that late is that it could compromise the stability of the build. It takes a lot of time to produce the release candidate build and forgetting a bracket or misspelling even a single line of script can have disastrous consequences.

Changing the color is not complicated and the error can be quickly fixed, but when you add new provinces or missions, this is where the problem arises.
Well, its for devs to decide, then.

I would still prefer if they kept Tlemcen green - maybe because I don't care about Tlemcen much, and there are not too many green tags in Maghreb now (Tripoli is the only one I can remember). Purple is not bad too, but Naples...
