I failed to do a world conquest in my previous AAR with Japan, although I took out USA, I was in no position to take on Germany as I did several strategical blunders. I don't feel 100% satisfied with how the last AAR went, so I am making a new one.

My strategy will be to build up industry as usual, but I will abandon my airforce and many older ships to free up supplies. I will also go for Mobile Warfare Doctrine, instead of Light Infantry, this a lot because of the "Ground Defense Efficiency" is 100%, which will give less troops lost. And also I am hoping it will scale better into late game than Light Infantry which peaks around 1942 from what I have understood. I learnt though that Light Infantry goes into "Unified NATO Doctrine" after the 1946 "Improved Light Infantry" doctrine technology.

I will make my army quite heavily focused on Cavalry with ARM-brigades for the invasion of USA, and I will also make quite some Mountain Infantry.

For my navy I will build 15 new CVs before Pearl Harbour is my plan, and a few handfull of destroyers. I will then also make more destroyers from the 1941 technology and some CLs with the 1940 technology as the CLs have the best anti-air stats.

For my airforce I will abandon it all in the start. This to free up supplies. I will after taking USA focus on building up a Fighter fleet, and at some point also build bombers.

I will be sure to research the nuclear bomb as early as possible, and have strategic bombers for using them.

As for conquest in early game, I will first go for China in 1937, and then get rid of the Allies in Asia and Oceania by declaring war on them a few weeks after Danzig event. I will also conquer other countries like Tibet, before launching Pearl Harbour event as early as possible (I think the event becomes avaliable around october 1941).

I will not ally any countries, only conquer them to make puppets. My eventual goal is then to take on Germany as early as possible, but probably not earlier than 1946-1947

What I did wrong in my last game, was to not release puppets (early enough), and I will this time release China after conquering it, and also release at least India and probably a third country before Pearl Harbour.

So lets start (I have played some already). I will continue the AAR tomorrow.

Initial setup and disbanding of units.
4th March 1933 - 12th March 1933

Starting message for Japan.

As my first policy change I choose to go for "Hawk Lobby". "Hawk Lobby" has almost no downsides, so I am going to try to get it into full "Hawk Lobby" as fast as possible. I also know from previous saves that I will be able to change to "Authoritarian" and "Inverventionism" through later events.

Changing "Minister of Security" giving me 1 dissent. Trying to choose the ones that have the longest time to retirement date when there are more than one with identical stats (from the stats I want). Choosing here to go for less "Consumer Goods" needed.
0004.png

Changing "Head of Intelligence" giving me 1 dissent. I chose to go for IC-bonus instead of research bonus.
0005.png

Changing "Chief of Army" giving me 1 dissent. Going for one that gives less supply consumption.
0006.png

I put my IC for only enough "Supplies" and the rest on "Consumer Goods", to help me lower my dissent. "Consumer Goods" producing money is also a nice bonus.

I also cancel production of all ships in production except the Light Carrier and Destroyer that are both almost finished. I really don't like that the Heavy Cruisers have torpedo attachments, which makes their "firing range" quite bad.

My goal is to get the "Economic Recovery Policy" decision as fast as possible. As it will give me better "Peacetime IC modifier" and also lower dissent a little bit. For this 500 money is needed, so I am not going to research any technologies before I have 500 money, this because tech teams use money.

Rebasing all my ships to Matsuyama to choose which ones to disband or turn into escortes.
0009.png

I am also detaching all the brigades that are on my divisions. This is because of upgrading av divisions into other types, changing a bit around on brigades, and to disband some of the brigades, as I know I won't need them before after Pearl Harbour. I have planned out already quite much what kind of army I want for attacking USA.

Putting auto-trade to stockpile money.

A earthquake hit Japan, giving me 3 more in dissent.

A new decision is avaliable, put I don't have enough supplies for it, so I prioritize production of supplies over consumer goods.

Starting the clearing of hostile forces in Kirin province (Manchuko).

On the "The Five Ministers Conference" I go the historical route of expanding southwards. I want to eventually take out Soviet Union also, but not before I have defeated USA. If I take out USA, then most likely Germany will win against Soviet Union even if I don't intervene, this because there will not be (as big of) an US airforce in UK.

The 9 airwings in the Japanese airforce. Marked the supply consumpion in red for each of the different airwings. I will disband the whole airforce to save the supplies. The NAV Bombers could maybe been nice to have, but I will have a kickass navy. Interceptors could have been nice to defend Naval Bases, but I don't want to send them into any air war in USA either, because I guess they are not needed to much, and it costs a lot to reinforce damaged airwings. The single Tactical Bomber I will maybe end up to build later on, after annexation of USA, and maybe it is not to smart to disband it, but I am doing so.

Current supply consumption is 52.82 each day (before disbanding airforce).

Disbanding the 9 airwings.

All my 93 ships/flotillas have arrived in Matsuyama. I have sorted them into two fleets; one which I will keep, and the other which I will disband/turn into convoy escortes. I basicilly keep all surface ships/flotillas that have a naval range of at least 8000 km and a speed of at least 24, except two CLs (4th generation). The submarines I will disband also.
0022.png

The ships I am disbanding. Two "newer" CLs included, as I am only planning on using 8 of the startings CLs in my navy. I will build some new Cls when I get the 1940 technology, because CLs have the best anti-air stats of all ships.
