Personally I see Vanilla FTG as a nice set of scenarios which are not included in AGCEEP. BTW it seems that for the war scenarios it's best to set the AI at aggressive or furious in FTG v1.1.

You've got:

1492 - Spanish colonization of America

1617 - Thirty years' war

1700 - War of the Spanish succession

1773 - American revolutionary war

1795 - Napoleonic wars

All of these scenarios can be pretty fun to play and you wont get too many events to bother you if you're a newcomer. That being said if you want to play the grand campaign I really don't see why you shouldn't play AGCEEP.

I really wonder why anyone is still playing vanilla map.

Of course, if you play vanilla then you should play Neapolitan for improved culture-based fun. :D
