This isn't too related to this conversation atm but I had a question and this seems like the most suitable place for it.
We know that upgrading tanks will improve their firepower, armour etc, is this true for all tank variants?
specifically do higher level mobile artillery and rocket tanks have better attack. If we want to get powerful mobile artillery are we going to have to fit artillery pieces onto tiger tank bodies or does artillery improve separately with different techs? (e.g. power of artillery tanks is dictated by artillery tech).

They've specifically stated that you're going to be able to make improvements up to and "maybe" a bit beyond the next tech level for a variant. That seems to imply that you won't be able to keep upgrading your Marders as far as they become as strong as jagdtigers and the same would probably apply for mechanized artillery. But that's just a guess.

Might I make a suggestion? Have generic types on the tech-trees, but allow the user to name certain combinations of techs and customization to be a specific model?
That way, everybody has the same approach, and (as game designers) all you have to do to customize for a country is a create those special-named combinations.

Love it

No, there really needs to be some variation in how armaments opreate. Choices as to fire rate, accuracy, range, reliability, etc. All come from choices in tech or skill in manufacture. Just running generic units against each other takes a lot away from the experience of the game.

Likewise having distinctive abilities for tech teams is essential. It informs why a particular nation excels.

If all you want are generic units on generic spaces, go play a game of chess.
