What is WIF ?

WIF is the acronym for World in Flames.
This is a mod that I developed for Hearts of Iron II and its expansions since 2007. Its main goals are to improve historical realism while giving the players a challenging game.
The mod basically reworks every aspect of the game from the combat system to the AI.


Where can I download it ?

You will find download locations and instructions to follow to install the mod here.


Are there surrender event for Soviet Union ?

First you have to take Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Baku and Kuybyshev and the soviets will have an event "Red Army totally disorganized" which will give them 30% additional dissent and -30% max. organization for their troops.
Then when you will reach Severo-Yenisejsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Irkutsk, the japanese will dow USSR. As the Japanese AI will be already entered in the Pacific War, in Burma and South-East Asia, may be they will not have any troops near the soviet border. If they have some troops there (if not you have to do it yourself) and they occupy Tynda and Vladivostok will trigger the end of soviet union event which will give in a second time a slice of the cake to Japan and create some puppets:TRA, SIB, KAZ,KYG, TAJ, TRK, UZB.


Are there events for end of war in Europe ?

These have been deleted in WIF Platinum Edition because they didn't work as well as I wanted and often led to bugs and inconsistencies. However, new events dealing with surrenders in Europe and post-war setup will soon be reintroduced in further versions of the mod.


How do I upgrade CAGs models ?

CAGs models are upgraded via events. Such events fire when you have researched appropriate interceptor/fighter and tactical bombers technologies.


What are the main differences between Gold and Platinum ?

Gold version was released soon after V1.0 for DD1.3a. It is a patch that was supposed to fix a couple of bugs while making the mod ARM-compatible.
Platinum Edition was released six months later and introduced a major rework of the mod while following its basic principles. Many new gameplay events have been implemented with Platinum Edition such as tech teams losses and recovers or war material seizure.

Here is a complete changelog of Platinum Edition :

AI :

- Trading with Holland as Japan is now harder
- Bulgaria will now garrison the Balkans if Axis
- Japan will now get locked garrisons to protect its homeland
- Chinese AI will now have less free units
- Fixed GER_Air_Strategic
- Ireland should no longer claim North Ireland (really annoying when you are playing as UK in MP...)
- ENG and GER AIs will now build more AA guns
- ENG, GER, USA, SOV and ITA AIs are now supposed to make a proper use of their paratroopers

Hi.
One question,because I finishing my ,,Yugoslavia,, mod and I need this information :)

HOw you created S.A.S regiment ? This division is only 30% strong,and it can't get replacemant.
I now that I must do something in db/unit/division like you,but ....:(

Check scenarios/1936/uk.inc.
There is a dormant division there (you can set max strength for dormant divisions) which is activated via event (check db/events/uk.txt).

My mod is " Yugoslavia improvment mod ". Origins is E3 mod,but there is about 100+ new events for Yugoslavia,new interface and others. (I redone some parts of Mod 33,Mod 34,Compendium,Core,your WiF,to make playing whit Yugoslavia more realistic ;))
-new ministers,leaders,tech teams (about 30 % that is E3 legacy,but I redone all)
+ yugoslavian civil war chain
+ Yugoslavia Axis chain...and more
I am currently working on Yugoslavian elite forces and Yugoslav war plan R-41 :D.

no problem,but you will have to change some things,like gain blueprints for tech,because I curetly work on Cold war extension,and there are diferent tech id ....but probably you now all that :D

2 questions> How much is one armor division? 300 tanks? Because Yugoslavia had about 150 tanks (Renault R-35 54 , FT-17 and M.28 56 , T-32 (Skoda S-I-d) 8) ...
and how much is one air division? (airplanes)
 
Can you use your World in Flames 'Platinum Edition' graphics with the regular 1.3DD version of the game?

Fernando,I want to add off-map territory in my mod,so when enemy defeat my forces and take all victory points,I will able to continue game/ something like Government in exile. ....And,whit events you can "reborn" you nation!

Is that posible?

+ that offmap country will have 1 VP...

p.s. this can go in "Suggestions for WIF" too ;) making govermants in exile for Yugoslavia,Poland,Greece
