I haven't read through all 23 pages of this thread, so the idea may have been posted already. If so, I apologise.

My idea is about the technology research. Since this game will be much more freeform than, say, HoI (although maybe not as much as EU3), various technological paths should be made available. Will you invest in developing steam technology or go with the new internal combustion engines? Will you stick with DC or go for AC? The scientific debates were one of the driving forces of the 19th century, and representing them as a widely branched technology tree might be a good idea.

A civil war system like EU:Rome. Countries could have their communist/republican/monarchist/fascist flags be used by rebels of different types, and during a civil war there is an "independent" nation that you must fight in order to maintain control. I believe this applies more to a revolution-styled civil war (such as Russia) than to (for example) the American Civil War. I think this would be a lot more fun and give life to the huge black splotches of the Russian Revolution. Just my $.02

someone said something about each tag slowing the game so if theres two of each of them and we get all the natons that should be there then the weeks would pass as slowly as in the new hearts of iron but itd still have days instead of hours if you see where i going with this.

think of all the country tags youd need though?

You could make special Civil War Rebel tags that can be used by any country's rebel faction. 5 of them would be suffice I suppose. When the Civil War ended, the victorious faction would take the country's tag, and the rebel tag would be freed up again.

Can we please have limited naval range for units and make the "coaling station" improvement actually work for the intended purpose? It's a huge detraction from the current Vicky when I can send a French invasion fleet non-stop from France to Vietnam. Limited naval range of the era was a very big part of the 'gunboat diplomacy' and why Britain (for example) colonized and fought for places like the Falklands, etc.

Taking inspiration from mods

Without VIP, the first game was really frustrating and dull. Im sure that developers could get inspiration from VIP as it really made colorful. Just like Magna Mundi of EU3. Yet even VIP couldnt resolve that crippled economy system.

Seeing how naval and colonial range work decently in EU3, naval range could actually work in V2 (although, hopefully the AI will learn to use and not "cheat" with unlimited naval range).

The part I liked the most from Victoria and Revolution was the political one. I guess that's the part I expect to be the more developed one. XIX century is a century of great political turmoil, with socialism, libertarianism, communism, democracy, empires, and kingdoms fighting each other on ideological purposes. I'd really like to see a deep political system, even deeper than the Hoi3 one, with laws, constitutions, parties, and more... of course it'll have to be linked to a deep economic aspect, but I trust PI to keep this from the first one.

-1.

Pretty sure this will be locked as well.

As above, I'd really like to see certain states' relations rising and falling with different governments. So that you can as the papal states influence S-P or Two Sicilies as much as you like, but relations will decrease with a liberal government, and a socialist government will torpedo relations.

I'd like to see election dates fixed. For example, the USA having it's elections every four years in the latter part of the year. Maybe political reforms like in HoI3.

Love the period covered by Victoria but would like Vic 2 to be more a game than its forerunner. Would love Paradox to be radical for this title but imagine it will be the same formula.

Keeping the mechanics workable would be a prayer. A good start would be concentrating on just making the majors playable. Whats the point of having a playable Brazil (picked purely at random) if the game is crap

Hmm...something I'd like to see...ah.

If there are going to be POPs (there better be), I'd like to not see the term "African Minor" or "Asian Minor." Be more specific. If you're going to keep those two "ethnic groups", I want to see a "European Minor" ethnic group as well. What does that even mean anyway? Minor? Are they underage?

I disagree. What exactly are you basing this assertion on?

I played the vanilla game for years before I made the transition to VIP. On my first try with VIP, I found it to be frustratingly difficult to play. It was after I had played the vanilla game for years (remember I get to play about half a dozen hours per week if I'm lucky) and gotten accustomed to the game that I started to find it a bit dull to start up again.

My second foray into VIP was a wonderful experience. I'm still playing it. And I'm still only getting in about 6 to 8 hours of play per week if I'm extremely lucky.
