Again Vanderhoof stands on a soap box somewhere in Ghent

Socialism is a failure, Dupoint is a failure and the government is a failure! Had the Flemish had our rights, this mad man would have been stopped before he destroyed Belgium!

Agitate, protest, strike! Get back our rights! Bring down the Red Hydra!

Hell, he's so bad at his job, one may think he is working for the fascists!

((Okay I got the Jist, Time to get involved!))

Name: Dr. Quinten Fontaine, Delegate from Ghent.

Born: September 26th, 1890.

Background: Born to a middle class family in Ghent, Quinten's father was a professor for the University of Brugges. Thus, Quinten lived a scholarly childhood, graduating from High-School as Valedictorian. He went to the University of Brussels, and earned his Doctorate in Political Science in 1918. During this time, his father lost his job due to the increasing unemployment in Belgium. Quinten had to supply his family, and considered leaving for Fascist's Africa. Yet he was not a traitor, and wanted to stay in Belgium. He was elected as a Delegate from his home-town of Ghent. He is currently a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, hopping that peace may be achieved before the current crisis erupts into all out civil war.

Dupointe must step down or be removed! Belgium needs fresh elections, we need a government with a clear mandate from the people!

It is my military opinion that to side with the United Kingdom would be disastrous for Belgium. The entire continent would come bearing down upon us like wolves - further, if we solidify our relations with Germany, they may look more favourably upon helping us retake Africa.

~ Tillens

Prime Minister Dupointe has shown that he is incapable of being Prime Minister. He is leading this country to economic ruin! I say this parliament must act in order to secure this nation and to become strong in the face of the fascists.

I call for a Vote of No Confidence for Prime Minister Amedee Dupointe.

((*Sigh* I look away for one second and you impose a 100% tax and tariffs?! Well done. Really. Well done. This should probably be IC but my character is not as sarcastic as I am xD))

I support the vote of no confidence. Dupointe is the worst Prime Minister the working classes have ever had.

The actions of Monsieur. Dupointe in his capacity as Prime Minister has been disappointing to put it lightly, already members of these chambers decry his actions and he has not solved any of the fundamental issues that this nation has faced, he has possibly made them worse and in doing so endangered the stability of this Republic, something I am sworn to protect.

Thus, it is without further adieu that I hereby dismiss him from his position and dissolve his government, inviting the leaders of all Belgium's parties to come together in a new national unity government, they may decide who amongst themselves will lead them.

Long live the Republic!

I wish to note that I was having no choice on getting the tariffs, or the high taxes. The Prime Minister requested me to get 100% funding for the military, and freeing up as much as possible for subsidizing the factories. To do that, I was forced to raise both taxes for the rich and to raise tariffs.

Citizens of Belgium,

These last few years have been difficult for you all. But do not forget who has brought this misery in you. Do not forget the side that overthrew an elected government, destroyed much of Belgium, and hoards our resources in order to starve us.

I will be the first to admit when I have made a mistake. I had hoped the tariffs and higher taxes would provide enough money to subsidize the factories, but it did not. Fighting unemployment remains my chief goal, and we will do anything to try to stop it, unlike certain people who care more about their pockets than the unemployment rate.

Let us stand strong in the face of tyranny at home and abroad. We now face another crisis and another world war. Providence seems to continually laugh in our faces, yet we will not be broken. I say we support Germany so that we will not be overrun on land. Losing the British alliance is painful, but it easier to defend against them.

May providence bless the Belgian people,

Amedee Dupointe

Acting Prime Minister

I, Jean di Picardie, Premier of the Belgian Socialist union, Declare that I would support a national unity government.

Jean di Picardie, premier of the BSU and its De-facto and De-Jure Leader.

I would say that the National Democrats also support a unity government, but we are left without a leader after the President's resignation of her position, in keeping with the apolitical nature of the office. At this moment, I hope that my services can be offered to the nation one last time. Therefore, if there are no objections from the rest of my party, I wish to put my name forward as potential Prime Minister of the unity government. I believe that I can provide fresh economic ideas - we have not had anything resembling truly liberal economics since the Burke administration - and competency in foreign affairs that the Republic needs in these dark days.

- Pierre Savarin

((Ah. I meant "100% taxes, and (18%) tariffs". From my experience any tariffs at all are devastating, especially when combined with 100% taxes for the rich.))

((Not in all versions, /gsg/ and POP mods have tariffs that don't TOTALLY destroy the economy))

Dear Madame President,

I am saddened it had to end like this. I tried to fulfill my duties to the best of my ability, including raising as much money for the factory subsidies and military expansion that you agreed on. But I understand you must distance yourself politically in order to save face from your party, which seems a bit quixotic given the fact your party holds the presidency and was the senior party after the last elections.

I hope the next Prime Minister succeeds at their duty. They will find our current situation a grave challenge, but I am certain Belgium will rise to the occasion.

Sincerely,

Amedee Dupointe

((Oh, I'm positively surprised. You, my friend, have captured the authentic feeling of the real life social liberal media. I'm most certainly looking forward to the next (I'm sure as fantastical) works of these brave journalists in Voorui.))

((Not sure I want to try the real life social conservative media. That is a dark path to tread on.))
