Yeah. Starting around Central Japan means you'll have a lot more hectic game than if you chose a clan around the edges in Kyushu or Tohoku.Location and starting stats can affect ones entire game.
This thread in combination with the other thread has dissuaded me from purchasing this game. When I first heard PI made a grand strategy game setting in Japan, I was very excited. When I saw the game didn't have any expansions, I was apprehensive. When I saw that on top of all of this, the game lost patch support very early on, I was extremely disappointed.
I've seen the only dev respond here with the basic statement that "if it would have sold more then we would have supported it", and I know that while this dev is likely not actually in charge of how the money is spent, you have to know that this statement is a fallacy when it comes to quality video games.
You should have went with "if we would have supported it then it would have sold more". Can anyone really question your brand loyalty? Can you really look at yourself in the mirror with a straight face and say sincerely that if improved on Sengoku, and maybe created your own hype (see ck2), that maybe it would have done better?
Honestly, it sounds to me like a cop out. I suspect the truth is whoever was in charge of the money was afraid of TW:Shogun 2. Which there is some truth to. But your games are vastly different genres, and that decision was made by someone that frankly, shouldn't have been in charge.

Don't release your game about feudal Japan the same year as Total War Shogun. That was some rotten timing.

2) Wouldn't fixing items like vassals asking for Kokujin titles too frequently be fixable through editing of files like vassal_events.txt, which has a nice section like:
I really hope they will put a dlc up or even continue with the patches
