“War does not permit itself to be coordinated with reason and righteousness. It needs stimulated emotions, enthusiasm for its own cause, and hatred for the adversary.”
― Stefan Zweig, The World of Yesterday

"Sabotaged from behind by disloyal elements from inside the political establishment and Communist organizations, the First Weltkrieg ended in absolute defeat for the German nation. Despite the French capital being in sight, the German armies were ordered to stop by Social Democratic politicians, resulting in a complete collapse of armies morale on the ground. Broken and destroyed from the inside, the defeat in the First World War left Germany in a state of absolute chaos. With the complicity of politicians from the inside, Germany was at the mercy of foreign powers and forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles. This draconian treaty was imposed against the will of the German people, mutilating the country by handing the national territories of Alsace and Lorraine to France and the Danzig corridor and Breslau region to Poland. If this defenestration of the Fatherland, the victors imposed an unreasonable amount of expensive war reparations, blaming the German Empire for starting the conflict. Under the concern of repairing the damage caused to their countries, this was a nefarious scheme to subordinate the German economy to the Entente powers and exploit its resources for the benefit of the Liberal plutocratic elites of France and the United Kingdom.

Like Carthage in the Ancient Ages, Germany was to be rebuilt to the image of the Entente. The old imperial government was replaced by the Weimar Republic, a weak and ineffective democratic puppet government imposed to follow the guidelines of the Treaty of Versailles. And if that were not enough, Communist subversives of the Spartacist League with the support of Soviet Bolsheviks, attempted an armed uprising on January 4, 1919, to impose a totalitarian Socialist dictatorship but they were quickly crushed. Trying to free Germany from the chains imposed by the Weimar government, German officers Wolfgang Kapp and Walther von Lüttwitz tried to carry out a coup to remove the incompetent government from power but they failed miserably. Completely unsympathetic to the situation of the German people, France began to take a more aggressive stance on the payment of war reparations by occupying the Ruhr industrial region.

Hyperinflation, crime, unemployment, Leftist violence, hunger, degeneracy. All these things were a natural part of life for the average German, who saw his purchasing power destroyed by a constantly devaluated currency and their loved ones killed in the street by terrorists. A semblance of stability seemed to be achieved between 1923 and 1929 but it was only a mirage as the economy completely collapsed when the ripples of the Walt Street Crash reached Germany. The historiographic consensus is that the Weimar government foolishly tied our economy to American economic fortunes due to the Young Plan, a very poor attempt at renegotiating the war reparations to calm popular discontent. With this catastrophe, the German nation reached its lowest point. Millions of German workers ended up unemployed, thousands of veterans were left abandoned in the streets without their pensions, wives, and daughters had to give their bodies in exchange for a loaf of bread, and hundreds of innocent civilians were murdered in Danzig and the Ruhr by their French and Polish masters. Desolation and anguish were in the hearts of every German, abandoned by an ineffective government to their own devices.

In this disfavorable context, a new political movement with a nationalist ideology started to surge in the political scene: the National Socialist Party of Germany, led by a charismatic Austrian veteran from the First Weltkrieg. With a talented oratory, calling for a National Revolution to break the Treaty of Versailles and the devolution of German territories lost in the First Weltkrieg and denouncing Leftist extremism in the streets, the man would soon gain notoriety in the political scene. His baptism of fire would be the march on Munich in 1923, where he and his followers called for the abolition of the Weimar Republic. However, the police opened fire against the protesters, killing dozens. From jail, he would develop his political thought and soon his book Mein Kampf would reach the general public.

As the economic situation deteriorated, he would gain the support of the helpless working and middle classes. The NSDAP performed better and better in each election, despite the attempts of the political establishment to placate them. It wasn't long before the party would reach the majority of seats in the Reichstag, and President Hindenburg had no choice but to follow the will of the people and appoint the man who would change world history as Chancellor. A man who would transform Germany from an unstable chaotic failstate into the planet's sole superpower. A true visionary whose talent would save Germany from the brink of collapse and lead it to greatness. A person who like any other human had flaws but also the strength to lead his country through the most brutal war the world has ever seen. A man whose example would inspire German citizens for generations to come.

The most important figure in German history.

Adolf Hitler."

BavarianOctopus: wait, is that a communist symbol in your avatar? isn't that illegal

Spartakus: I know. I don't care :)

Spartakus: No lol

This is a redux of my old Germany Darkest Hour AAR. My writting have improved since then and I want to try something different from my old style. Mostly I want to improve not only on the history book format and give it a bit more depth, but also build around a more interesting narrative. While the events of the AAR will have a history book-like format, I also plan to use these in-universe Internet conversations to give a more detailed look about a world where the Nazis won, which I think is something that is lacking from a lot of Nazi victory stories.

Just to clarify, this AAR doesn't endorse any National Socialist ideas and is simply reflecting in-universe perspectives. I denounce anti-Semitism and racism in all its forms. I hope you enjoy :)

Hooked. The format sounds extremely interesting if you can pull it off, though I'd like to see some good ole fashioned gameplay sprinkled in there somewhere. Lots of luck in your run!

Intriguing start!
